Dollar Will Be Replaced By Gold And Bitcoin By 2040 – Robert Kiyosaki (Part 2)

05:30
Fiat money will lose its significance to precious metals and cryptocurrencies in the coming decades, said Robert Kiyosaki, best selling author of “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and his latest book “Why The Rich Are Getting Richer.”A self-proclaimed gold bug, Kiyosaki is one of the few investors to be bullish on both Bitcoin and gold. In an exclusive interview with Kitco News, he said that Bitcoin will slowly erode fiat currencies’ relevance, while gold “has been there since eternity,” and will also be an important hedge instrument.I’m writing this new book called ‘Fake,’ Kiyosaki said, “It’s really about what’s real. When I talk to people, I say, what do you think will be here in 2040? Will gold still be here? Well, it’s been here since eternity. Will the dollar be here? I don’t think so. Will blockchain be here, I think so. That’s really the way I look at the world of money and currencies is what’s going to be here in 22 years.” Talking the markets, Kiyosaki said that a crash is imminent. “There are two kinds of bubbles, equity bubbles, and debt bubbles, and we’ve been in a debt bubble since 2004. When a debt bubble comes down, they come down in an avalanche.” __ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Are Some Central Banks Dumping Their Gold ?

07:14
Gold prices fell more than $17 on the day, and while central banks may have played a role in its selloff, the bigger driver is the strong U.S. dollar, fueled by rising interest rates, said Gerald Celente, publisher of the Trends Journal. “What brought gold down? Well, obviously, rising interest rates, that’s no surprise, the higher the interest rates go, the stronger the dollar gets, the opportunity cost for gold rises,” Celente told Kitco News. Another side-effect of a strong U.S. dollar, according to Celente, is the rapid depreciation of emerging markets currencies, like the Turkish lira. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Jim Rogers - Before All This Is Over, Gold Is Going Through The Roof

04:27
Legendary investor Jim Rogers said enjoy the market rally while it lasts, issuing a dire warning that “the worst correction of his lifetime,” is coming for stocks. “Soon something’s going to happen that will make everyone happy again and the market will go up one more time, and that will probably be the last hoorah. Next year will be not a lot of fun,” Rogers said in an interview with Kitco News on Monday. He added, "It’s been ten years since we have had a bear market, that is very, very unusual so the next bear market is going to be the worst in my lifetime." When promoted to quantify the correction, Rogers said it would easily be over 50%. __ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Gold Is “Radically Undervalued” - Goehring & Rozencwajg Associates

04:42
Compared to rising oil prices, gold is significantly undervalued and is presented with a good buying opportunity, said Leigh Goehring, managing partner at Goehring & Rozencwajg Associates. “Oil will continue to do well. If oil were to go to $100 a barrel and gold were to stay at these levels, we’re getting down to that undervalued area of 10 to 1, where an ounce of gold only buy 10 barrels of oil, at that point I believe gold will be radically undervalued and will take off,” Goehring told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Mines & Money New York conference. Goehring noted that even in a rising rate environment, gold has opportunities to rally. “If you look historically, whether it be the great gold bull market in the 1970s, or the bull market last time, both of them occurred during rising interest rates,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Keith Neumeyer Doubles Down On Triple Digit Silver Call

06:12
Keith Neumeyer, CEO of First Majestic Silver, is sticking to his call that silver eventually will reach double digit prices. “Silver is extremely important, people look at it as the poor man’s gold, which is the absolutely the wrong way to look at silver,” Neumeyer said on the sidelines of the BMO Global Metals & Mining Conference. “Silver is an extremely critical metal, it’s a strategic metal, and the investment community will figure it out eventually.” Neumeyer noted that silver’s strategic prominence often flies under the radar, even when its applications are commonplace. “You couldn’t mine a bitcoin without silver,” he said. “No one talks about silver as the green metal. Silver is critical in achieving what we want to achieve as a human race.” _______________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Want $100,000? Get Gold says Rich Dad, Poor Dad’s Robert Kiyosaki | Kitco News

06:40
Gold is a wealth attractor, this according to Robert Kiyosaki, the best-selling author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, who uses the metal to boost his net worth. “If I want $10,000 a month, I hold $10,000 in gold; gold is an attractor and people need to understand that if you buy more gold, your income goes up,” he said in an interview with Kitco News. The entrepreneur said that besides being real money, he views gold as something spiritual. And while he has no gold forecasts, he pointed to another author, Jim Rickards of Currency Wars fame, for guidance. “Jim talks about $10,000 gold and his numbers work,” he said. Kiyosaki also talked about his latest book: Why the Rich are Getting Richer – his best-seller Rich Dad, Poor Dad sold 41 million copies worldwide. “If you want to be rich, you need a different education than the middle-class and the poor,” Kiyosaki explained. His three-part path to wealth involves using market crashes, debt and taxes to one’s advantage. “While others say live debt-free, I’m borrowing my butt off,” he said. Ron Paul: Fed's Yellen Dangerous For The Economy

09:01
What does former U.S. congressman Dr. Ron Paul think about Janet Yellen as the Fed Chair? Kitco News caught up with Paul at the Metals & Minerals Conference in San Francisco, where he is a keynote speaker, to discuss monetary policy, gold and the US dollar. "It's easy to be a critic if you don't believe they should exist," Paul says in response to his criticisms of the Fed. Having Yellen as the next chair, Paul says not much will change. "If anything, it'll be slightly worse because she is a very aggressive inflator...I think she'll be dangerous to the dollar and she will not revive the economy." Paul thinks the Fed is temporarily holding markets in check by making Wall Street people richer and helping out the bankers but it has done nothing for the economy. "The market is so fragile," he says. "[The Fed] should have never started [QE]." With regards to gold, Paul says gold will soon be up again. "[The Fed] cannot print this kind of money and think that it will never be discounted by the dollar price of gold," he says. "I think we're fast approaching the time where [gold] will turnaround." Watch now to hear where Paul would invest and avoid putting his money in the coming year. Kitco News, November 26, 2013. Buying Gold When It's Down Is "Fun" - Morgans

05:23
Buying gold is more about market perception of price direction than the metal’s fundamentals, said Chris Brown, senior analyst at Morgans. “I think [gold is] stuck in a trading range from about here up to $1,350 [an ounce]. I don’t think we’re going to see a breakout to the upside, I don’t think we’re going to see a collapse to the downside either,” Brown told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Noosa Mining & Exploration Investment Conference. Brown noted that of all the metals, gold has seen the most volatility and investors should look into buying on the dip. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. 'We Are Running Out of Gold' - Goldcorp's Ian Telfer (PART 1/3)

05:20
Gold may be setting itself up for higher prices because there just isn't enough of it anymore, this according to mining mogul Ian Telfer. Speaking with Kitco News on the sidelines of the Mines & Money conference in Toronto, the Goldcorp chairman said miners are just not finding gold like they used to. "We're running out of gold as an industry," he said. "I think we're spending significant amounts of money exploring but it's getting harder to find." Telfer, who has been behind countless deals in the mining industry, said the picture is looking a little brighter for the industry moving forward. "Production is starting to turn down and once that starts to turn down, I think you'll see the gold price really start to move." The key to survival? "Not having too much debt because the debt in a downturn is what destroys most mining companies." Is There Enough Silver Out There? Endeavour Silver CEO Speaks

04:16
The forecast calls for a multi-year decline in new mining supply of silver, said Endeavour Silver CEO, Bradford Cooke. “Silver is the one metal that is primarily a by-product of copper, lead, and zinc mines, and in a five-year commodity bear market, there are no new copper, lead, and zinc mines,” Cooke told Kitco News on the sidelines of the PDAC 2018. Cooke noted that silver prices for the short-term are already “baked in” as he expects silver to trade in a similar price range in the coming months, with low volatility. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Gold Equities Are "Insanely Priced" - Amir Adnani

Relative to physical gold, gold stocks are severely undervalued, said Amir Adnani, Chairman of GoldMining Inc.“Gold prices are the same level they were at in 2016, but the equities are maybe 50% lower than that,” Adnani told Kitco News on the sidelines of the PDAC 2018. “From my perspective, in terms of store of value, I think the gold equities are insanely priced right now.”Adnani noted that although a much higher gold price in the $1,400 range is needed to bring enthusiasm back into the gold exploration space, he remains optimistic in GoldMining’s ability to make accretive acquisitions in today’s price range.“Clearly, right now, it remains a window where you can be opportunistic and you can make acquisitions,” he said. __ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Before It Was Crazy, Now "Absurd" Not To Be In Gold Says Amir Adnani

03:47
With the mounting global debt, rallying equities and political turmoil, it would be “absurd” not to be protected with gold, this according to GoldMining Inc. Chairman Amir Adnani. Speaking on the sidelines of the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference (VRIC), Adnani who previously said it was “crazy” not be in gold, has upped the ante by now saying its “absurd” not to be exposed to the yellow metal. “Gold has been in a stealth bull market, quietly moving up…last year I said it would be crazy, now I would say it is just absurd, not to have that protection,” Adnani said. Adnani also pointed to the depleting global supply of gold as a bullish case for the metal. “The gold mining industry is sitting at a decade low [of gold supply] this is because we have had a prolonged bear market,” he said. The CEO added that a $1,400-$1,500 gold price would be needed to bring interest back into exploration and with it much needed capital. “We are flirting with the $1,350 point; it is a bullish way to start the year,” Adnani said. On Wednesday, gold prices were holding relatively steady as the Federal Reserve made little change to its monetary policy outlook. April Comex gold futures were last up $6.7 an ounce at $1,346.50. March Comex silver was last up $0.207 at $17.26 an ounce. ________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. What To Do With Gold? Peter Hug Summer Series

04:38
Peter Hug, global trading director for Kitco Metals said that while gold is not quiet near a bottom, current prices could provide some value for long-term investors. He added that although gold prices could go lower, the downside risk appears limited. The Gold market has been stuck in a downtrend, losing more than 10% since Mid-April. Because of current U.S. dollar strength, Hug warned that gold prices could fall to $1,180 an ounce before this downtrend comes to an end. He added that the ultimate sign of the bottom is when investors start dumping gold for no reason. “I am looking for people in essence to throw the baby out with the bath water,” he said. “I would like to see a washout in this market with a fundamental reason…We are not quite there yet. __ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Gold Is ‘Managed’ by Wall Street and The Fed – Frank Giustra

06:24
Canadian mining maverick and entrepreneur, Frank Giustra does not mince words. While the mining mogul and philanthropist is involved in a vast array of projects ranging from an olive oil venture in Italy to Thunderbird, the film production company behind the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, it is truly when his first love, gold, is brought up that he gets passionate. This January marked a return to the resource sector for Giustra, who took a half-decade year hiatus during the commodities downturn. His latest undertaking is Leagold Mining Corp., a mid-tier gold producer based in Mexico, which bought the Los Filos mine from Goldcorp Inc. for US$350 million. “Wall Street has done a good job of talking down gold and labeling it a barbaric relic,” he said during his interview with Kitco News. And while Giustra stops short of using the word “manipulated” in conjunction with gold, he does not shy away from using the word “managed.” “I think gold is managed by policymakers that need to keep confidence in a system when the system starts to go sideways,” he explained. Too Late To Jump On The Gold Bandwagon? Rick Rule Chimes In

04:54
Gold prices continue to rise this year, which has some investors questioning whether or not they have missed their chance to get in on the action. According to one veteran gold investor, the ‘real move’ in gold is yet to come. ‘I don’t think in the near term this rally is sustainable; my suspicion is that gold will pullback before it goes forward,’ Rick Rule, president & CEO of Sprott U.S. Holdings, told Kitco News at the PDAC Convention in Toronto. However, he added, ‘what will be really interesting is…if this rally falters a little bit, some people will say it’s over and miss the real move, which I believe is to come.’  However, Rule warned that investors need to understand that the gold market could have ‘ugly’ cyclical declines. ’It’s important, if you have the liquidity and the courage, to stay this trade,’ he said. 04:08
“Silver, it’s battling. It’s a heck of a battle down here against 16 bucks,” said Bill Baruch, president of Blue Line Futures. Silver has recently come out of a net short position, according to the Commitment of Traders Report, and is now in a net long position. This means that gold, and not silver, is due to be the leader to the upside, Baruch told Kitco News. “[Silver] is very constructive around $16 [an ounce], I think it will follow gold higher. One thing I am worried about with silver is are you going to see some of the base metals, like copper, which lost 20 cents over the last two weeks…is that going to hold silver back on that rip when gold makes it,” Baruch said. On gold, Baruch said that major currency headwinds have been keeping gold under pressure, despite the prospect of a global trade war breaking out. In particular, the dollar has strengthened on the back of a weakened euro and Chinese renminbi. “You’ve got to keep an eye on these currencies,” he said, “I think gold will find its path higher, it will take a little bit of time as we work through this trade war, and what China’s going to do with their currency upon this war.” Baruch said that gold investors should consider buying put spreads to protect the down side and selling calls against long futures. “My belief here is that you’re going to see $1,300 retested in the next 30 to 60 days,” he added. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Gold Hitting “Critical Area” of $1,178

03:04
Gold has a hit a “critical” area of $1,178 an ounce due to technical factors, said Gary Wagner, editor of TheGoldForecast.com. “If it breaks below that, I think it will go to $1,124, and if it holds in this area, our next resistance point is going to be back at $1,200,” Wagner told Kitco News. Wagner noted that gold is not yet at a bottom and its direction from this current critical level is mainly dependent on the strength of the dollar. Importantly, gold’s relationship to the dollar is most sensitive on the yellow metal’s downside. “If the dollar begins to weaken, we will see gold recover, but it’s not going to be the other way around,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Austrian Mint Tour: Inside Look At The Vienna Philharmonic Coin | Kitco News

03:26
As Kitco News’ London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) conference coverage came to an end, Daniela Cambone took to the streets of Vienna to get a glimpse at one of the world’s most beloved gold coins: The Vienna Philharmonic. Taking a tour of the Austrian Mint, Cambone had a chance to get up close and personal with the one-ounce coin and get at inside look at how it is minted. The mint’s marketing director, Andrea Lang, shared some insights on the history of the coin and how it came to be one of the most sold bullion coins around the world. “Very quickly, the Viennese Philharmonic coin became of the best sold coins worldwide as the World Gold Council said,” Lang noted. “People want to have it. Not only Austrians, but worldwide.” According to Lang, the mint currently produces about 1.4 million coins per day. Kitco News, October 29, 2015. "Gold And Silver Are Going to Explode" - Bill Murphy

03:17
Gold and silver should be trading at much higher levels when compared with historical prices, said Bill Murphy, Director of the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee. “Two of the markets that should be on fire are gold and silver,” Murphy told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference, “when you look at where we were six, seven years ago, it’s nothing, and silver at $17 [an ounce] is one third of where it was 38 years ago at its high.” Murphy said that the “gold cartel” is to blame for keeping prices at current levels. “Open interest has gone up at an unprecedented rate in the Comex,” he said, “the gold cartel is doing everything they can do stop the price.” Murphy said that the precious metals space is going to have a spectacular year, and a lot of money is going to come into the sector.“When [silver] gets above $21 [an ounce], it will actually trade like bitcoin, and it will go bonkers.” Speaking on bitcoin, Murphy said that bitcoin traders are taking some of their profits and putting them into gold and silver. “Some of that money is already coming back into precious metals,” he said. ________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Gold's Beating May Be Nearing an End - Bloomberg Intelligence

04:18
Recorded on August 10, 2018 It has been an awful summer for gold. And just when things could not get any worse for the yellow metal, prices dipped below $1,200 an ounce in early trading Monday morning -- a nearly 1.5-year low. So does this mark the final leg down and the end of the pain for many gold investors? “Someday, at some point, it will happen,” said Mike McGlone, commodity strategist for Bloomberg Intelligence in an interview on Friday. “Have we reached the point of maximum loss of faith? We may be pretty close,” McGlone added. Gold prices are down and hit a nearly 1.5-year low as they fell below key chart support at $1,200.00. Silver futures prices dropped to a more-than-two-year low overnight. A surging U.S. dollar index is trumping currency market turmoil to drive the precious metals markets lower. December gold futures were last down $11.90 an ounce at $1,207.10. September Comex silver was last down $0.13 at $15.165 an ounce. "If the history of compressed gold prices is a guide, the dollar should be peaking, with the potential for higher gold prices far outweighing downside risks. It's been about two decades since gold sustained a narrower 24-month range,” McGlone said. And while a stronger dollar and U.S. economic growth are hurting bullion's appeal, concerns that Turkey's financial crisis could spread may give the metal a reversal of fate. "Gold's short-cover risks are elevated. The setup, with prices near key support and near-record-short net positions, is a recipe for a sharp rally and potential longer-term bottom," McGlone said. Technically, gold bears have the solid overall near-term technical advantage amid a price downtrend on the daily bar chart. Gold bulls' next upside near-term price breakout objective is to produce a close in December futures above solid resistance at $1,230.00. Bears' next near-term downside price breakout objective is pushing prices below solid technical support at $1,150.00. __ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Will Turkey's Currency Crisis Create Gold's Shining Moment?

04:04
The Turkish currency crisis that could spread to Europe is breathing a bit of life into gold as a safe-haven asset. Will Rhind, chief executive officer for ETF provider GraniteShares, said in an interview Friday that the gold market could be close to reversing its downward trend as investors are starting to see value at current prices. But, analysts are still concerned that the yellow metal faces tough competition against the U.S. dollar. The gold market is preparing to see slight gains on the week, ending a four-week losing streak. Comex December gold futures last traded at $1,221.70 an ounce, virtually unchanged from the previous week. However, many analysts note that technically, the gold market is still in a downtrend as prices hover near their recent 12-month low. Yet, Rhind said this might just be the beginning of a reversal for the yellow metal as half of the world’s economy teeters on the brink of a currency crisis. Loose monetary and government fiscal policies have boosted the nation’s economy but they have also created a significant risk for the Turkish lira. Friday saw the lira hit historic lows against the U.S. dollar. At one point, the U.S. dollar was up 24% against Turkey’s currency. This isn’t just a Turkey story either. Three European banks have been identified as having significant exposure to Turkey: Spanish Bank, BBVA, Italian Bank Unicredit and French Bank BNP Paribas. There is growing concern that Turkey’s problems could spill into Europe, which would be a significant drag on the region’s economy. __ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Chinese Gold Standard Would be "Game Changer” - Bloomberg Intelligence | Kitco News

04:18
Could gold, the world's longest running currency be used to create a new order in global currencies? The Chinese central bank is said to be considering backing its yuan with the yellow metal. This move, says Ken Hoffman, Global Head of Metals and Mining Research for Bloomberg Intelligence, would be a "game changer." Why would China consider such a move? Hoffman explains that Chinese policy makers are already trying to establish the yuan as a reserve currency, and backing it with gold would help attract foreign capital inflows. China is expected to receive approval from its central bank for a yuan-denominated gold fix, with a potential for an announcement as early as next week. Hoffman explains that a gold standard would not necessarily create a big constraint to the Chinese central bank, as many believe. “It could be at any price they fix. There’s a lot of things that they can do to make this work,” he says. Hoffman estimates that to create an exchange rate of one ounce of gold for every $64,000, the country would need about 10,000 metric tons of the metal. "That’s nine times the nation’s official holdings and about 6 percent of all the bullion ever mined globally," Hoffman says. Moving to a gold standard may also be a question of power for China. Hoffman says that when the U.S. adopted a gold standard after World War II, it emerged as the main power in the International Monetary Fund. In 1971, the U.S. ended the use of the gold standard and rendered the dollar a fiat currency. If China decides to go into some form of a gold standard, Hoffman says it would make the rest of the world view the metal as a currency again. “If they go for it, we’d be talking about fireworks,” he says. The Realest Talk on Gold Right Now - Rick Rule, Amir Adnani - Part 1

04:22
Mining stocks should be trading a lot higher, given that the companies are performing much better than they used to, said Rick Rule, CEO of Sprott U.S. Holdings. Amir Adnani, Chairman of GoldMining Inc., noted that there is a disconnect between gold prices and gold stocks, citing interest in other base metals as a reason. “If you look at gold stocks as a basket today, compared to gold stocks back in 2016, they’re probably 50% lower. The ratio of the gold index share price would suggest that we’re in a bear market, but we’re arguably $40 away from the magic $1,365 resistance level,” Adnani told Kitco News on the sidelines of the PDAC 2018. __ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Is $10,000 Gold What Investors Want? - Jim Rickards

03:53
A rapidly increasing price level for gold may not be beneficial to investors, said best-selling author, Jim Rickards. $10,000 an ounce is “approximately the implied non-deflationary price of gold in a gold-backed monetary system,” Rickards told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference. Rickards noted, however, that gold at $10,000 levels may imply an increase of prices of other goods and commodities, thus eroding purchasing power. “All gold does is it preserves your purchasing power. But, if gold is $5,000, then oil is probably $400, and everything is double or triple, you’re not really ahead of the game,” Rickards said. The best-selling author added that 2018 may be a breakout year soon, and that a pending economic downturn is imminent and would be triggered by a liquidity crisis worse than the Great Financial Crisis in 2008. ________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Why Is Russia Secretly Buying Gold?

03:27
Trade competitors to the U.S., like Russia and China, have been regularly stock piling gold to hedge against the unpredictability of U.S. “Every month, Russia continues to accumulate gold, just like China. Why is that? Because there’s a real movement, that’s very slow and gradual, not to trust the U.S. dollar,” Holmes told Kitco News. Holmes noted that with global trade under fire from protectionist policies, the U.S. dollar can no longer be depended upon by other major economies as a safe haven. “This thing on tariffs that Trump has been escalating now, has slowly been creeping for the last 18 years. It’s interesting that the Renminbi wants to be a reputable trading currency, well, countries want gold as a backdrop as a guarantee against the Renminbi,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Don’t Be Fooled, Central Banks Are Buying Gold - Tocqueville’s Hathaway

05:37
Gold’s role in the monetary system should not be questioned, this according to Tocqueville’s John Hathaway, who says even central bankers view it as a currency. ‘You see central banks accumulation, they bought more gold in the last couple of years than they bought U.S. treasuries so they think it's money,’ he told Kitco News at the Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek, Colorado. ‘They use it as a reserve because it is a reserve asset.’ Hathaway has been a vocal critic of the Federal Reserve, noting that he doesn’t expect much from the U.S. central bank’s latest meeting. ‘There's all this drama about shrinking the Fed balance sheet. At the end of the day, they're not going to do anything,’ he said. ‘They've put themselves into a corner they can't get out of and if they try, they'll destabilize the equity market.’

A Market Crash On The Scale Of 2008 Is Looming; Buy Safe Havens

06:02
Equity markets are overvalued and overleveraged, and a crash on the scale of the last recession could be on the horizon, said Gerald Celente, publisher of the Trends Journal. Celente told Kitco News that one possible trigger for such a crash could be an escalating war in the Middle East. “If we have a war that involves Iran, kiss the markets goodbye,” he said. Celente added that in such a scenario, oil prices could spike to $150 a barrel. On economic growth, the economic forecaster said that growth in the U.S., particularly when it comes to retail sales, is not as strong as it could be. Celente said that given the myriad of risks for investors, now would be an ideal time to buy gold. “I believe that there is no greater safe haven right now than gold,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Jeff Christian, managing director for New York based research consultancy CPM Group says gold is headed much higher in the next three years. "We thought gold would find a bottom in 2015 and that by 2020 we could see gold set a new record gold price in nominal terms, above $1,700 an ounce." Christian adds that his firm conducted extensive research around the ideal gold allocation in today's world. Since the early 1980s, most portfolio managers allocated a 5-10% holding in gold. This model, Christian says, had not been updated in years. "Given everything that is happening, in terms of risk reward, it is now 27-30%.” Don’t forget to sign up for Kitco News’ Weekly Roundup – comes out every Friday to recap the hottest stories & videos of the week: https://connect.kitco.com/subscription/newsletter.html Join the conversation @ The Kitco Forums and be part of the premier online community for precious metals investors: https://gold-forum.kitco.com/ -- Or join the conversation on social media: @KitcoNewsNOW on Twitter: https://twitter.com/kitconewsnow --- Kitco News on Facebook: http://facebook.com/kitconews --- Kitco News on Google+: http://google.com/+kitco --- Kitco News on StockTwits: http://stocktwits.com/kitconews

Hang On, Gold Interest is About To Renew - Sandstorm CEO

03:41
The prospect of higher economic stress, followed by more equity volatility may prompt investors to reconsider buying back into gold, said Nolan Watson, CEO of Sandstorm Gold. “About a month ago, when the stock market went crazy and the VIX blew up…and it sort of hinted that the global economic system, with record debt levels, is starting to show signs of not cracks but stress,” Watson told Kitco News on the sidelines of the BMO Global Metals and Mining Conference. “And when you have that much money moving around, things start to get a bit shaky, and that’s when people are going to look to gold.” On bitcoin, Watson noted that the cryptocurrency has only hurt gold on the retail investor side, since large institutional investors have yet to allocate large quantities into blockchain funds. “Retail investors that are looking for very quick returns are getting them faster in cryptos and so they’re moving over there, and gold’s less sexy and less exciting right now. I think that we’re going to see a reversal of that once the shine comes off cryptos,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Is Silver Due to Shine? This One Clue Says Yes - Expert

03:29
Silver has been lagging behind gold in terms of growth in the last year, but one analyst said that now may be a good time to buy into silver. According to Phil Streible, senior market strategist at RJO Futures, a gold-silver ratio above 80 signals a strong buy for silver. The gold-silver ratio was last at 80.43 at the end of Thursday’s session. “Silver has been lagging behind gold for quite a while now,” Streible told Kitco News, “and I think that silver is due for its movement upwards, I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of these 30 to 50-cent moves to the upside here.” Recent spikes in equities volatility could further prompt traders to rush into one of the metals, Streible said. “Some people may be a little bit more comfortable with gold and will go into that, but I think the real opportunity lies with silver,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Gold Abandoned By World’s Top Mutual Fund; Frank Holmes Says Rebound Still Possible

03:57
In late July, Vanguard, one of the world’s largest mutual fund managers, has decided to drop “Precious Metals,” in its name, changing the name of its $2.3 billion Vanguard Precious Metals and Mining Fund to the “Vanguard Global Capital Cycles Fund.” Frank Holmes, CEO of U.S. Global Investors, said that Vanguard’s move, along with reducing its holdings of mining stocks from 80% of its “Global Capital Cycles” fund to 25%, is part of a larger trend that makes it more difficult for investors to passively invest in gold. As gold heads below $1,200 an ounce, some analysts have called a bottom. Holmes said that a rebound for the bullion is still in the cards as the U.S. dollar remains the primary driver. “The money is consistently in price reversals. We are now down 2-3 standard deviations, and many companies [have] great fundamentals. Bullion down, silver down, I think we’re due, mathematically, for a great rally,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Panic Into Gold Lies Ahead - Doug Casey

07:38
Longtime investor Doug Casey says he expects eventful, yet somewhat frightening, years ahead for markets and the U.S. economy. Speaking with Kitco News on the sidelines of Freedom Fest in Las Vegas, Casey warned that “we’re on the cusp of the greater depression.” “I believe that this year, before this year is over, we’re going to enter the trailing edge of the storm, which is going to be really chaotic and much more different than what we had in 08-09,” he added. What will happen? “One of the characteristics of it is that there is going to be a panic into gold,” he said. What's Up With Uranium Prices? - Amir Adnani

Get Ready For It, Silver Will Rally to $130, Gold To $8,000 - CEO

06:29
Is 2018 the year of the silver rally? Keith Neumeyer, CEO of First Majestic Silver Corp., thinks so and expects the metal to climb eightfold over the next 3-5 years. He says silver is a story of supply and demand: “to go green, to do all the things we want to do as the human race gets off oil and gas, we need a ton of silver.” He says that unlike gold, silver is a strategic, rather than precious metal, and should trade closer to its mine ratio. “[First Majestic] is currently operating at a mine ratio of 9 ounces of gold for every ounce of silver, so silver should be trading at around 9:1.” Currently, the gold-to-silver ratio stands at around 76 and that is why Neumeyer says he sees silver prices headed for $130 an ounce. Is The Pain Over For Gold Investors?

05:29
Gold is an alternative to the U.S. dollar, and while dollar-denominated assets have had a good run this year, a turnaround soon can be expected, said John Doody, founder of the Gold Stock Analyst. “All of the near-money types, gold, silver, and bitcoin, they’re all down this year. When is it going to turn around? I think soon, because nothing goes forever,” Doody told Kitco News. Doody noted that the Commitment of Traders report showed the highest level of net short positions on gold ever recorded, with 15% of the open interest in short positions. “To be going against the contango, to be going net short means that there’s a lot of buying power to be released when something sparks it in the other direction,” he said. Doody added that the last time there was a high percentage of short positions, minus 3 percent of open interest, gold rallied 30% the next year, and gold stocks climbed 78%. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. 2010-Style Crisis Approaches: Prepare For Flight To Safety

04:39
A debt-crisis similar to what Europe saw in 2010-2012 looms on the horizon, and investors should position their portfolio with risk-off assets, this according to Will Rhind, CEO of GraniteShares. “This time, out of nowhere, it feels like Italy is the latest drama to play out,” Rhind told Kitco News, “I don’t think it’s another Brexit type situation, but I think it’s much more like 2010, 2012, where you have more volatility, threats of countries potentially leaving the Euro, threats of contagion.” Rhind noted that Italy is unlikely to leave the European Union and that threats of contagion should not spread beyond the current stage. Higher volatility is needed for investors to be interested in flight-to-quality assets, like gold, he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. The Fed Is Bluffing, Gold Bugs To Prevail - Jim Grant | Kitco News

06:37
The Fed is bluffing, and no matter what happens with interest rates, it might be best for investors to stick with gold, this according to widely known Fed critic and Wall Street pundit Jim Grant. Speaking with Kitco News, he argued that the gold price will not be driven by the next move by the Federal Reserve, although most recent gold price fluctuations have been the result of shifting rate hike expectations. Instead, “it’s the revelation that we’re walking – or running – down the wrong path, and that we must regroup and formulate a monetary policy that’s based upon a lasting standard of value,” the popular newsletter publisher said. “I think a bet on gold, to me, is actually an investment in monetary disorder. It’s not a hedge against it because we have monetary disorder; I think what us, gold bugs are waiting for is the spreading perception that we have monetary disorder.” To Grant, central bankers’ policies around the world will make investors either “end in tears” or “laughter,” depending on how people position themselves. Kevin O’Leary Is Wrong; Gold Miners Will Outperform – Frank Holmes

03:03
Contrary to Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, Frank Holmes, CEO of U.S. Global Investors, sees gold mining stocks outperforming the physical bullion. “Our smart Beta GOAU [exchange-traded fund] is really a classic of showing you you have to get rid of those companies that are not creating value per share,” Holmes said. “The royalty companies have done well and those stocks that basically show better revenue per share, reserves per share, production per share, they far outperform.” On gold prices, Holmes said that there are several fundamental factors behind the recent rally in the yellow metal and has little to do with President Donald Trump’s tweets on Wednesday about the possible military strikes in Syria. The CEO of U.S. Global Investors maintains his long-term $1,500 an ounce gold call. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Central Banks Are Coordinating Their Efforts - Vince Lanci

Coordinated central banking has played an important role in geopolitics, said Vince Lanci, founder of Echobay Partners. On gold, short term fluctuations are less important than gold’s long-term role as a wealth preserver, Lanci said. “I don’t care about the price of gold. I view gold as a wealth preserver. I would love it to go to $1,800 [an ounce] tomorrow, but that’s not its purpose,” Lanci told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Mines & Money New York conference. “Gold, you own it for 20 years, or you trade it for three months,” he added. ________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. The Uranium Price is Not Real – CEO

05:59
The uranium spot price is thinly traded and probably manipulated and does not reflect the true intrinsic value of uranium, said Mike Young CEO of Vimy Resources (ASX: VMY). “[Uranium prices] are not the real reflection of the sales going on around the world. Most uranium is sold between the producer and the utility in a private contract, and that’s never reported,” Young told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Noosa Mining & Exploration Investment Conference. Young said that the real, or fair value of uranium should be determined by actual private contract prices, which should be much higher. “No contracts have been written right now. So there’s this sort of no-man zone or hiatus of contracting, and what that means is that at some point when utilities start to come back in to write contracts, I think those are going to be in the $50s and $60s [a pound],” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Revenge of QE? It Might Be Making a Comeback Says Frank Giustra

05:44
The Federal Reserve has backed itself into a corner, especially with the rate hike it announced last week, this according to mining maverick and Fed critic Frank Giustra. In an exclusive interview with Kitco News, the LeaGold chairman said he doesn’t expect the central bank to deliver the rate increases it has promised. ‘They’ll continue to talk about normalizing rates and they’ll find excuses not to,’ he said. ‘I think the next accident that happens – whether it’s a stock market crash because stock valuations are at an all-time highs now and we are ready for a major correction there – any event that causes crisis in the system will be met by further easing and another version of QE.’ The actions the Fed took in response to the 2008 financial crisis never fixed the root problem, Giustra said. ‘We papered it over with cheap money and that’s made a small segment of the population very rich but it certainly hasn’t helped the economy.’ Don’t forget to sign up for Kitco News’ Weekly Roundup – comes out every Friday to recap the hottest stories & videos of the week: https://connect.kitco.com/subscription/newsletter.html Join the conversation @ The Kitco Forums and be part of the premier online community for precious metals investors: https://gold-forum.kitco.com/ -- Or join the conversation on social media: @KitcoNewsNOW on Twitter: https://twitter.com/kitconewsnow --- Kitco News on Facebook: http://facebook.com/kitconews --- Kitco News on Google+: http://google.com/+kitco --- Kitco News on StockTwits: http://stocktwits.com/kitconews
