The Power of Understanding Inter-Market Relationships

01:09:19
Presented by Dan Gramza, President of Gramza Capital Management, Inc., and DMG Advisors, LLC Why do some markets increase while other markets are decreasing? If crude oil prices are rising, should the U.S. dollar be declining? What does flight to quality mean when stock prices are falling? What clues can other markets offer to indicate the stock market is getting stronger? How do you identify if one market is leading or lagging price change in another? The informed trader understands the clues revealed by the relationship between markets, the fundamentals that drive these relationships and how to identify when these relationships are changing. These are just a few of the questions and relationships that will be explored in this webinar by internationally renowned trader Dan Gramza of Gramza Capital Management Inc.

26. How to Trade the Average Directional Index (ADX)

08:14
Practice these concepts with a free practice charting and trading account here: http://bit.ly/forex-demo1 For the full lesson with images, text, links, and discussion, go here: http://www.informedtrades.com/4525-adx-how-trade-trends-using-adx.html For our full beginner course in technical analysis and trading, go here: http://www.informedtrades.com/index.php?page=freetradingcourses Link to the formulas behind the ADX: http://hubpages.com/hub/ADX Link to Additional Resources on Trading the ADX: http://www.informedtrades.com/4529-six-resources-help-you-trade-adx.html And of course, don't forget to jump start your learning as a trader by registering as a member of our learning community: http://www.informedtrades.com VIDEO NOTES A lesson on how to trade the ADX for traders of the stock, futures, and forex markets. In this lesson we are going to learn about the Average directional Index (ADX), an indicator which helps traders determine when the market is trending, when the market is ranging, when the market may be about to change from trending to ranging or vice versa, and to gauge the strength of the trend in the market. When plotted below the chart the ADX Line is normally accompanied by two other lines which are known as the +DI and --DI Lines. I am not going to go into the formulas for the Indicator here however you do need to know that: • The ADX line is composed of two other indicators which are known as the Positive Directional Index (+DI Line) and the Negative Directional Index (-DI Line). • The +DI Line is representative of how strong or weak the uptrend in the market is. • The --DI line is representative of how strong or weak the downtrend in the market is. • As the ADX line is comprised of both the +DI Line and the --DI Line, it does not indicate whether the trend is up or down, but simply the strength of the overall trend in the market. If you would like a deeper explanation of the computation of the indicator you can find it here: http://hubpages.com/hub/ADX As the ADX Line is Non Directional, it does not tell you whether the market is in an uptrend or a downtrend (you must look to price or the +DI/-DI Lines for this) but simply how strong or weak the trend in the financial instrument you are analyzing is. When the ADX line is above 40 and rising this is indicative of a strong trend, and when the ADX line is below 20 and falling this is indicative of a ranging market. So one of the first ways traders will use the ADX in their trading is as a confirmation of whether or not a financial instrument is trending, and to avoid choppy periods in the market where many find it harder to make money. In addition to a situation where the ADX line trending below 20, the developer of the indicator recommends not trading a trend based strategy when the ADX line is below both the +DI Line and the --DI Line. Another way that traders use this indicator is to identify the potential start of a new trend in the market. Very simply here they will look from below the 20 line to above the 20 line as a signal that the market may be beginning a new trend. The longer the market has been ranging, the greater the weight that most traders will give this signal Another way traders use the ADX is as a signal of trend reversals. When the ADX is trading above both the +DI line and the --DI line and then turns lower this is often a signal that the current trend in the market is reversing and traders will position themselves accordingly: The final example that I am going to cover on how traders use the ADX is to position to trade long when the +DI crosses above the --DI (as this is a sign that the buyers are winning out over the sellers) and to position to trade short when the +DI line crosses below the --DI (as this is a sign that the sellers are winning over the buyers). As with the other crossover strategies that we have covered used alone, the DI crossover is prone to many false signals. That completes our lesson for today. You should now have a good understanding of the ADX and several different ways that traders use this in their trading. In tomorrow's lesson we are going to look at a new indicator which is called the Parabolic SAR, which many traders use to set stops when trading trends in the market.

Do Successful Traders focus on Technical Analysis or Fundamentals?

07:52
Paul Wallace, a forex trader http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/forex/forex-trading.html and mentor comments. I prefer using technicals to trade for a couple of reasons; I'm a visual person and technicals help me also I sometimes question how accurate fundamentals are. Also, I'm not a trader at a banker; I don't have a team of analysts working for me, I'm a private trader and have to make decisions for myself. It doesn't mean that technical analysis is automatically better than fundamental analysis but the technicals help me in my decisions. As far as fundamentals go I'm just aware when the big economic announcements are coming out and I stay away. Certainly everyone has to know the markets they trade and that's why I prefer trading currencies than UK or USA equity markets. I focus on 15 currency pairs which are made of 5 or 6 of the major currencies in the world so to keep abreast of them and what's happening and the inter-relationships between them; that's doable for me. As far as fundamentals go, I just make sure that I know when the big economic news are coming out or when the interest rate decisions come out as they play a big part in foreign exchange markets. People love to trade trends and tend trading can be very profitable but there has to be a framework...

Bond Futures: How to Trade Bond Futures | Bond Futures Trading Strategies tutorial - Jonathan Rose

53:13
Let me show the Correct Way to Trade Bond Futures Learn how to Trade Bond Futures. DONT MISS YOUR FREE WEEK https://goo.gl/RXhLnY .This is Bond Futures Trading Strategies tutorial. What is Bond Futures? Although the stock market is the first place in which many people think to invest, the U.S. Treasury bond markets arguably have the greatest impact on the economy and are watched the world over. Unfortunately, just because they are influential, doesn't make them any easier to understand, and they can be downright bewildering to the uninitiated. At the most basic level, a bond is a loan. Just as people obtain a loan from the bank, governments and companies borrow money from citizens in the form of bonds. A bond really is nothing more than a loan issued by you, the investor, to the government or company, the issuer. For the privilege of using your money, the bond issuer pays something extra in the form of interest payments that are made at a predetermined rate and schedule. The interest rate often is referred to as the coupon, and the date on which the issuer must repay the amount borrowed, or face value, is called the maturity date. One wrinkle in the equation, though, is that not all debt is created equal with some issuers being more likely to default on their obligation. As such, credit rating agencies evaluate companies and governments to give them a grade on how likely they are to repay the debt (see "Good, better, best"). Benji Baily and Delmar King, fixed income investment managers at Everence Financial, say ratings generally can be classified as investment grade or junk. "Anything that's considered to be an investment grade, you would have a fairly high probability that you're going to get your money back at maturity," King says. "Of course, the lower you go down the credit spectrum, the more risk there is of default and the possibility that you could have losses. Therefore, the lower the security grade you have, the more yield compensation you should have for taking that default risk." So, if you purchased a 30-year U.S. Treasury bond (currently AA+ from S&P and AAA from Moody's and Fitch) for $100,000 with a coupon rate of 6%, then you could expect to receive $6,000 a year for the duration of the bond and then receive the face value of $100,000 back. At least, that's how a bond would work if you held it to maturity. Rather than hold a bond to maturity, they also can be traded. But, as a bond is traded, interest rates can change, so the overall value of the bond can change. "If you bought a bond that has a 10% coupon and the rest of the market is fine with owning a 1% coupon, then someone is going to love to have that 10% coupon until maturity," Baily says. "Conversely, if you have a 1% bond and everyone else is expecting that the market in general will be at 10%, then you're going to need to pay someone a lot of money to take that 1% bond instead of buying a new 10% bond." Because coupon rates generally are fixed, to adjust for future expectations the price of the bond or note has to move up or down. If yields, the interest or dividends received on a security, go up, the price will fall to accommodate that higher yield; if yields go down, then price has to go up. http://forexswingtrading.com/free-resources/sentiment-indicator/ Use our Free Sentiment Indicator A Sentiment Indicator is a useful tool for forex trading. It looks at the percent of traders who have taken a long or short position in a currency pair. It is a contrarian indicator, and when there is a majority consensus over 60% I look to go in the opposite direction. Since most retail traders lose money over the long run, you want to trade against the herd. When trading forex, sentiment Indicators shouldn't be used alone, but in conjunction with other tools such as VSA, time and technical analysis.

Intermarket Relationships: Interest Rates Presented by Dan Gramza, President of Gramza Capital Management and Pete Mulmat, Director of Education at CME Group Understanding Opportunities for Trading the "Curve" One way to look at interest rates is the yield curve, which shows the rates -- or yields -- offered by bonds of different maturities, usually based on U.S. Treasury bonds. The shape of the yield curve is closely scrutinized because it helps to give an idea of future interest rate change and economic activity. Join Dan Gramza and Pete Mulmat as they review CME's interest rate product offerings and show how to incorporate a "spread" or yield curve strategy in your trading. In this session, you will learn: The driving force that determines the yield curve's shape How to develop a yield curve outlook Spread construction and quoting conventions How moves in the Treasury curve affect other markets

The foreign exchange market (or "forex" for short) is the biggest financial market in the world, with over $4 trillion worth of transactions occurring every day. Simply, forex is the market in which currencies, or money, are traded in the interbanking system. Forex Tutorial: What is Forex Trading? By Investopedia Staff What Is Forex? The foreign exchange market is the "place" where currencies are traded. Currencies are important to most people around the world, whether they realize it or not, because currencies need to be exchanged in order to conduct foreign trade and business. If you are living in the U.S. and want to buy cheese from France, either you or the company that you buy the cheese from has to pay the French for the cheese in euros (EUR). This means that the U.S. importer would have to exchange the equivalent value of U.S. dollars (USD) into euros. The same goes for traveling. A French tourist in Egypt can't pay in euros to see the pyramids because it's not the locally accepted currency. As such, the tourist has to exchange the euros for the local currency, in this case the Egyptian pound, at the current exchange rate. What is the spot market? More specifically, the spot market is where currencies are bought and sold according to the current price. That price, determined by supply and demand, is a reflection of many things, including current interest rates, economic performance, sentiment towards ongoing political situations (both locally and internationally), as well as the perception of the future performance of one currency against another. When a deal is finalized, this is known as a "spot deal". It is a bilateral transaction by which one party delivers an agreed-upon currency amount to the counter party and receives a specified amount of another currency at the agreed-upon exchange rate value. After a position is closed, the settlement is in cash. Although the spot market is commonly known as one that deals with transactions in the present (rather than the future), these trades actually take two days for settlement. Note that you'll see the terms: FX, forex, foreign-exchange market and currency market. These terms are synonymous and all refer to the forex market.

Rediscovering Intermarket Relationships

39:41
Rediscovering Intermarket Relationships Presented by Frederic Palmliden, CMT, Senior Quantitative Analyst Exploring the reactions and interactions between markets and asset classes can be fascinating and may yield useful trading insights. For example, what can history tell us about how other markets, say, emerging markets or other asset classes, reacted to a given movement in equity markets? What is the duration of these intermarket reactions, short-lived or extended? Analyzing these market moves reveals dynamic intermarket relationships that can help traders stay in tune with current market conditions. This Analysis Concepts paper reveals some of these interesting intermarket relationships using the proprietary TradeStation Labs Return Statistics Engine (RSE). EUR/USD and GBP/USD waiting for GDP and Interest Rate: Oct 23 – 27, 2017

09:59
This week promises to be more interesting than the last one in Forex. With three immense economic events coming in quick succession it promises to deliver some volatility for the Pound, Euro and the Dollar. David previews the three data points first focusing on the Euro where the currency pair has been trading in a range for the past several weeks. The trend from the last six or so months has been depleted and to pattern lovers it looks like a head and shoulders formation but this week’s ECB interest rate announcement on Thursday will be the main inflection point. UK GDP will influence the GBP/USD, the number is due on Wednesday and will provide clues as to how the economy is faring in these tumultuous times. Uncertainty continues to grow about the Brexit talks and if there are first indications of an impact on the economy from the referendum. The key levels to watch are 1.302 on the downside and 1.333. At Trading 212 we provide an execution only service. This video should not be construed as investment advice. Investments can fall and rise. Capital at risk. CFDs are higher risk because of leverage.
