Intermarket Analysis

More Trading Tips for Stock Traders at: http://www.TradingTips.com During the late-90's Internet boom, many stock traders became known as "Fed watchers." That's because they took their investment cues from the tortured jargon of "Maestro" Alan Greenspan -- the Chairman of the Federal Reserve who spoke in an arcane manner that had to be decoded. It was thought that Greenspan controlled the economy, but that his control was benevolent... And then the dot-com bubble burst. Regardless, watching the Fed -- which controls interest rates in the U.S. and thus the value of the dollar -- is obviously smart, especially for forex traders. But the actions of the Fed and other central banks have implications for the prices of all things -- especially investments. This is where Intermarket Analysis comes in -- the study of how different groups of assets, such as stocks and bonds, or interest rates and commodities -- relate to one another. Click here to watch this episopde: http://www.TradingTips.com In this episode, you'll learn: - About the global monetary system: how it functions, why it functions that way, and how you can use this knowledge to generate profitable investment ideas. - The differences between inflationary and deflationary environments, and what kind of investments generally perform better at different stages of the inflationary/deflationary business cycle. - Which groups of investments -- stocks, bonds, currencies, and commodities -- trade in tandem and which are negatively correlated... And what all this means. - How accurate Intermarket Analysis is: both in the short- term, and the long-term. Click here to watch this episode: http://www.TradingTips.com Happy Trading!

Rediscovering Intermarket Relationships

39:41
Rediscovering Intermarket Relationships Presented by Frederic Palmliden, CMT, Senior Quantitative Analyst Exploring the reactions and interactions between markets and asset classes can be fascinating and may yield useful trading insights. For example, what can history tell us about how other markets, say, emerging markets or other asset classes, reacted to a given movement in equity markets? What is the duration of these intermarket reactions, short-lived or extended? Analyzing these market moves reveals dynamic intermarket relationships that can help traders stay in tune with current market conditions. This Analysis Concepts paper reveals some of these interesting intermarket relationships using the proprietary TradeStation Labs Return Statistics Engine (RSE). Read the related Analysis Concepts paper @ http://www.tradestation.com/education/events/on-demand-webcasts/~/link.aspx?_id=FC9D37CE9BCB4EF7B449F1BCA3F401D5&_z=z

Are Older Books on Technical Analysis still Relevant?

03:27
What are some good books on technical analysis? http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/course/technical-analysis.html Also, are older books on technical analysis still relevant today? PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE so we can bring you more! There is the basic standard work which is Murphy: Technical Analysis of Futures Market The one book on pure technic analysis I would recommend is Technical Analysis of The Financial Markets by John J Murphy. Covers just about everything in technical analysis, is hardback and 576 pages thick and about £40-£50. If you decide to get it be careful because it is easily confused with the study guide version which is cheaper and thinner That gives you an overview of different approaches to technical analysis. Choose one of these approaches and work at it both for trade discovery and risk control. Remember that trading is different from reading a book. At the end of the day trade discovery is one thing, but other elements like risk management are also important.

Sentiment Indicators and Forex Trading- How To use Sentiment Indicators to Trade Forex Markets

08:52
http://forexswingtrading.com/free-resources/sentiment-indicator/ Use our Free Sentiment Indicator A Sentiment Indicator is a useful tool for forex trading. It looks at the percent of traders who have taken a long or short position in a currency pair. It is a contrarian indicator, and when there is a majority consensus over 60% I look to go in the opposite direction. Since most retail traders lose money over the long run, you want to trade against the herd. When trading forex, sentiment Indicators shouldn't be used alone, but in conjunction with other tools such as VSA, time and technical analysis.

The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. Seek education and gain experience before risking real money, but please always remember, your past performance does not guarantee future results. What Is Forex? The foreign exchange market (or "forex" for short) is the biggest financial market in the world, with over $4 trillion worth of transactions occurring every day. Simply, forex is the market in which currencies, or money, are traded in the interbanking system. Forex Tutorial: What is Forex Trading? By Investopedia Staff What Is Forex? The foreign exchange market is the "place" where currencies are traded. Currencies are important to most people around the world, whether they realize it or not, because currencies need to be exchanged in order to conduct foreign trade and business. If you are living in the U.S. and want to buy cheese from France, either you or the company that you buy the cheese from has to pay the French for the cheese in euros (EUR). This means that the U.S. importer would have to exchange the equivalent value of U.S. dollars (USD) into euros. The same goes for traveling. A French tourist in Egypt can't pay in euros to see the pyramids because it's not the locally accepted currency. As such, the tourist has to exchange the euros for the local currency, in this case the Egyptian pound, at the current exchange rate. What is the spot market? More specifically, the spot market is where currencies are bought and sold according to the current price. That price, determined by supply and demand, is a reflection of many things, including current interest rates, economic performance, sentiment towards ongoing political situations (both locally and internationally), as well as the perception of the future performance of one currency against another. When a deal is finalized, this is known as a "spot deal". It is a bilateral transaction by which one party delivers an agreed-upon currency amount to the counter party and receives a specified amount of another currency at the agreed-upon exchange rate value. After a position is closed, the settlement is in cash. Although the spot market is commonly known as one that deals with transactions in the present (rather than the future), these trades actually take two days for settlement. Note that you'll see the terms: FX, forex, foreign-exchange market and currency market. These terms are synonymous and all refer to the forex market.
