Earl Scruggs Shows You The Banjo
You must see my entire film. At http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002MINVE . This classic 90 minute music documentary records Earl Scruggs and Bill Monroe and Earl and his son Randy and Doc Watson and his son Merle, in informal scenes playing & singing together. If you love Doc Watson and Bill Monroe and old time Bluegrass Music, you will love watching and listening to this. In 1972, PBS prime-timed a documentary music special on Earl Scruggs the bluegrass banjo picker. It included Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Bill Monroe, Charlie Daniels, The Morris Brothers, and Doc Watson. The film was not available to the public for over 30 years. Now it is available again. Said Bruce Elder of The All Music Guide: "Earl Scruggs was a few years past his partnership with Lester Flatt when made did 'Earl Scruggs: The Bluegrass Banjo Legend' a filled with stars effort that succeeds. There are great scenes at the Grand Ole Opry with Bill Monroe, at the homes of Doc Watson and members of Earl's North Carolina family, at the The Byrds ranch, at the home of The Morris Brothers (Salty Dog Blues), in Carmel, NY with Bob Dylan, etc. etc. The music here is glorious." Earl Scruggs: The Bluegrass Legend is the only full-length film on Earl's life & times. #earlscruggs #banjo #banjolessons

Bluegrass Backing Track - Cripple Creek (rhythm guitar track)
You can purchase this Bluegrass Backing Track @ http://bluegrassbackingtracks.bandcamp.com/track/bluegrass-backing-track-cripple-creek Cripple Creek was one of the first tunes bluegrass or otherwise I learned when I first started playing guitar. It has stayed with me through the years and is still a favorite at jams. In the rhythm guitar Backing Track it is played in the Key of G. The tune does not change chord structure G,C,G,D,G, I use the C some times and some times I don't. Enjoy your picking and thanks for using a Backing Track by Randy Struble. Cripple creek
After playing the banjo for 3 weeks (used to play classical guitar many years ago). Working my way through the book 'Earl Scruggs and the 5-String banjo'. The banjo is a Fender FB59 which I am very happy with. Recorded on a HTC one m8.

Cripple Creek
Well, there you go, folks. A very simple, beginner version of the world famous "Cripple Creek." Nothing fancy, but that's the best I could do for now. Sorry it took me relatively a long time to upload this one, lots of changes going on in my life right now, but I still find a break now and then to pick my old skin box. The book is almost over, now there's just some recap and stuff to review. So I might, or might not upload a new "tune" here soon, since I ran out of material for now. Since I'm almost done with thew Tony Trischka book, I will be ordering Geoff Hohwald's follow up book, titled "Banjo Songs." I reckon that it will get a little more serious from now once, seems like the book has some advanced material. No, I am not in Florida yet, but my next video will probably be recorded down there, in the good ole Sunshine State, unless, as I mentioned above, I decide to upload the remaining lessons of Tony's book. Well, thanks for stopping by and God bless all y'all.

Cripple Creek
This is the full version of Cripple Creek, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th breaks, as taught by Geoff Hohwalds book Banjo Songs. Its a lengthy song for a novice, as Im used to very short songs, but once you get it right, its easy and very pleasant to pick. Measures 21, 22, 23 and 24 are the most difficult in my opinion, but all it takes its practice. Guest appearance of our dog Zoey. Shes half pit-bull, half plott hound, but very docile. The flag flying with great pride and grace is our beloved Mississippi flag. Thats all, folks! Video proudly recorded on my front yard in Mississippi. February 7, 2009.

Cripple Creek while reading the tablature Day 2
It sounds terrible but I really want to keep track of improvements... if there are any.. just kidding.. i can tell, u probably can't but that's ok!! I had the book on my lap. I mostly remember a good part of the song, but my teacher said to read it along with playing it until it is ingrained in my head.... That is the other reason I am incredibly slow.

Cripple Creek - Tutorial for the Ukulele
Credit goes to Sawlon who uploaded the video I formed this tutorial from. Thanks Sawlon, this is the first song I learned on the Uke thanks to you! If you want TABs please watch Sawlon's video because he's got TABS up on the screen as he's playing. I don't know how to do that and I don't have any TABS. I learned this song by Sawlon's video and on screen TABS. I'm new to the Ukulele so when I was trying to follow Sawlon's video I got a bit lost as he plays it up to speed. So, I thought that if I had trouble keeping up and hearing the correct syncopation, other people would too. My video is purely a slowed down version to help you learn this song. Watch this video with Sawlon's and I'm sure you'll get this tune in no time. Im also working on Magic Ukulele Waltz which is harder but an amazing song on the Ukulele.

GroundSpeed sings 'Cripple Creek'
Groundspeed Bluegrass Band performs a mix of traditional bluegrass and newgrass tunes -- keepin' the tradition alive. The band's four members blend banjo, guitar, dobro, fiddle and upright bass, delivering the unmistakable and original American sound of bluegrass. Chris Damiano :: Upright Bass, Vocals Tim Meyer :: Fiddle, Vocals Steve Spiwak :: Banjo, Dobro, Vocals Pat Marzolf :: Guitar, Vocals. The Groundspeed Bluegrass Band began their journey 10 years ago. They got their name from a very popular Flatt & Scruggs tune that is still popular today. Over the years, a few of the members have changed but the strong basics of harmony vocals combined with fast instrumentals keeps this band true to the bluegrass scene. Based out of Arlington Heights, Illinois, this band has a strong sense of purpose and combines a bluesy overtone with hard driving tempos. They play a variety of styles from Flatt and Scruggs and Jimmy Martin to more recent bands like Alison Krauss and Blue Highway. Groundspeed has shared the bill with Third Tyme Out, JD Crowe, Special Concensus and The Chapmans.

Earl Scruggs - Sally Ann (Track 03) Foggy Mountain Banjo ALBUM
The album that secured Flatt & Scruggs standing among folk music enthusiasts in the 60s, Foggy Mountain Banjo focuses on Earl Scruggs' instrumental prowess as well as his sharp interplay with dobroist Josh Graves, fiddler Paul Warren and Lester Flatt's flat-picking guitar. The album also features drummer Buddy Harman, whose appearance shocked purists. Despite a painfully short running time of 25 minutes, this 1961 landmark remains one of the most important and influential banjo albums ever made. Released at the height of the folk boom, these 12 instrumentals inspired countless college kids to pick up a five-string banjo and try to emulate the great Earl Scruggs's spectacular three-finger attack. Paul Warren's fiddle and Josh Graves's Dobro keep pace with the master, who creates a template for bluegrass banjo. Although there are more definitive and comprehensive Flatt & Scruggs collections available, Foggy Mountain Banjo will always be a perennial favorite thanks to its original timely release and, of course, the timeless music within.
