IOTA answer : Microsoft is one of the cloud solution providers with their Azure platform. Fujitsu, Samsung ARTIK, Accenture and many others are participants in the Data Marketplace exploring the concept of trading secure and immutable data on a decentralized ledger. These are the first steps towards an open flow of data in IoT to realize the vision of Big Data. Guestion : How is your platform Tangle different than traditional Blockchain? IOTA answer : The short version is that IOTA goes beyond Blockchain in getting rid of fees, scaling limitations and centralization issues. It does this by making validation an intrinsic property of using the protocol. When you issue a transaction in IOTA you also validate two previous ones, which again reference their own two respective transactions and so on, building this Directed Acyclic Graph which we call a Tangle. This means that users are also validators, which allows us to get rid of miners, which again gets rid of the fees and centralization that occurs in Blockchain architecture. Since everyone is validating two transactions for each transaction or data transmission they broadcast to the network, it means that the amount of validations i.e. transactions per second grows together with the activity on the ledger. In short: the more activity, the more validation. Guestion : How do you see trust systems changing in the future? IOTA answer : Trusted systems are absolutely pivotal in an age where decisions are automated and can act globally in an instant. We believe that data integrity, which you get for free in IOTA, is a main component of this. Beyond that we are working on IDentity of Things (IDoT) which will make it easier to secure components and develop reputation systems for intrusion detection and malware protection etc.

What does digital transformation mean for drug companies? Milind Kamkolkar, Chief Data Officer at Sanofi, speaks with CXOTalk co-hosts Richie Etwaru and Michael Krigsman about innovation and changes in the pharmaceutical industry. For more, see https://www.cxotalk.com/episode/digital-transformation-pharmaceutical-industry-innovation Sanofi is a company focused on empowering lives through human health. As CDO, Kamkolkar focuses on driving and transforming Sanofi from data generation to an insights generating organization where data is a monetizable asset class on par with product and shareholder value. Kamkolkar is also a featured speaker and thought leader in Digital Health, AI & Big Data; Honorary Lecturer for physician entrepreneurship at BartsX; Faculty at Exponential Medicine; and Special Advisor to the UN Global Sustainability program. Etwaru is Chief Digital Officer at QuintilesIMS, helping bridge the innovation and efficiency gap for healthcare stakeholders and life sciences customers using analytics and technology. He’s a former CDO at IMS Health, a frequent keynote speaker at leading tech-related events and forums, a serial entrepreneur, an author, a former Clinton Global Initiative delegate, and currently serves as a board member for multiple not-for-profit organizations. From the transcript: Michael Krigsman: (05:00) What are we actually speaking about and how does this relate to the broader changes that are going on regarding healthcare and ultimately, the impact on healthcare for people? For patients? Richie Etwaru: (05:24) Well, I think most of us understand siloes pretty well, right? These are vertical departments within large companies that tend to perform a specific function. And then they perform that function well, but if you look at multiple of those siloes together as a broad organization, you’ll see inconsistencies and gaps to be solved for. I think, with the pharmaceutical industry, there was a time when it was okay to have siloes. Not that you wanted them, but if you had them, it was not the biggest deal in the world, and we’re seeing what I like to call the “three waves” of change enter the environment of the pharmaceutical industry that’s creating the financial reality and quite frankly, the competitive reality, to start to think about what the business model looks like and take the siloes out. These three waves, I think, most people would recognize. (06:15) Now, the first wave is what came from the supply side. So, I think of this as the patent cliff, right? I think we’ve heard enough about the patent cliff that the supply of discovery of drugs in the pipeline has changed quite a bit. And, the good thing about the patent cliff is that it was sort of contained within the pharmaceutical industry, right? Yes, there was some implication too of the stakeholders, but it didn’t radically change the landscape because each pharma company was suffering from the same strain from a supply side. (06:47) The second wave is what I like to call the wave coming from the demand side. This is the influence and the pressures of reimbursement being changed, payment terms being changed. I think what we see in the United States with Obamacare and the model of delivery has created a tremendous amount of strain that created a whole new wave of pressures for the pharmaceutical industry. So, I think that’s the second wave. (07:18) Where we are today is what I like to call the “third wave” of change that’s coming through the pharma industry. And, this is the digital health and technology paradigms that are entering at the same time. Now, the patent cliff is not completely solved for. That's still moving over, right? The changes in the […] are not completely solved for. That's still here. And, we have this new wave that's being driven by this new stuff that Milind is talking about, which is more data, digital health, some of the new technology paradigms. What's interesting about this third wave is that it is not self-contained in the pharma industry or healthcare. Milind Kamkolkar: (14:46) Yeah. I mean, if I could just add one last thing, Michael, to that point, I think where the time, perhaps has that risk-averse nature in the pharmaceutical industry is that perhaps I’m like… banking in other such industries… The reality is that if you get this wrong, people die, right? And that’s the real crux of it. So, I can fully appreciate and respect the fact that sometimes, you do want to be a little bit cautious because, of course, who wants to create a medicine or some kind of patient service that really is not yielding a positive outcome? (15:19) So for one, I'm quite grateful for the fact that we are basing more medication and pricing, and reimbursements, etc. really on health outcomes. But I think, in many ways, it's not just the actual medicine that has to take into play, it's also the customer experience at point of treatment that needs to be part of that equation as well.

Mario Faria, Big Data Technology Advisor at Technology Partner Network, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and part of the MIT Data Science Initiative, discussed the role of the Chief Data Office in enterprise, as well as that of the team they manage, with theCUBE co-hosts Dave Vellante and Jeff Kelly, live at the MIT CDOIQ Symposium. The first CDO in Latin America during his time at Boa Vista, Mario Faria said he was more of a data practitioner than a data scientist. "I am not a data scientist per se, I am more downstream on the data process, I understand how to use and monetize in terms of data. I am a data practitioner. " Why hire a CDO? Asked how an organization justifies the role of a CDO, Faria said that it's a matter of common sense, as for most companies data has become a critical asset to creating value. "When you bring in a CFO, do you make a business case to bring your CFO?" The same is true for a adding a CDO position. Remembering his first day on the job as CDO, Faria said he spent "the majority of the time talking to my peers, understanding their expectations, understanding how they saw data. I did more listening than any other action." The purpose was to understand the issues, to later create a vision with his team, implement it in the future to address those very issues. "You're there to make money or save costs in an area where you have some inefficiencies," Faria explained. "What my team did was look at issues we had to solve." Where's the CDO fit in? Asked where should the CDO sit in the organizational structure, Faria said that in his case, as data was very important to the company, he was reporting directly to the CEO, the CIO being his peer. In other organizations, CDOs report to COOs or to Marketing."I don't think it's a good idea to report to the CIO. Data should be a business issue, not a technical issue." Commenting on the concept of data quality, Faria said: "We have a saying, ' garbage in, garbage out.'" Quality should be ensured at every step of the data process, "otherwise you'll hurt yourself down the line. It should evolve as part of data science, how you can look at raw data to create value for your business," he explained. The role of granularity in data quality Granularity plays a large role in data quality, he said, detailing his experience with Boa Vista. "We have to have quality down to every detail, we had to be really, really careful. when we applied data quality methodologies, we had to be even more paranoid," given the particularities of a financial business, Faria explained. Asked what piece of advice he'd share with CDOs to help them succeed, Faria said that "not every data person will be a CDO down the road." There are a lot of skills needed to succeed, and know-how pertaining to communications, data, mathematics, statistic, while also being good with people, and tech savvy. "After years of TV and radio coverage, gallons of newsprint ink, and billions of scholarly opinions on the blogosphere, do we really understand the financial engineering that brought the global economy to the brink? The terms and acronyms that make up the language of economics are enough to cause the layman's head to start spinning: leverage, securitization, futures, options, MBS, CDS, CDO. Luckily, we have veteran journalist Paddy Hirsch—senior producer at APM's Marketplace and acknowledged Whiteboard Guru—to help us crack the code. In Man vs. Markets, he proves that it's not impossible to understand what's going on in the glass-and-steel canyons of Wall Street; that most international financial transactions aren't all that different from those taking place every day in stores, in car dealerships, even on the playgrounds of Main Street. Bonds? They're basically loans. Futures? You probably used one when you ordered your Thanksgiving turkey last year. Options? Ever bought a fully transferable, returnable airline ticket? That's pretty much the same thing. With a winning combination of acquired wisdom, common sense, market savvy, and an outrageous sense of humor, Hirsch clearly explains and defines the instruments that power our financial system and very nearly caused its demise. Clever, insightful, hugely educational, and always entertaining, Man vs. Markets translates the often confusing language of finance, enabling every one of us to truly comprehend what makes the markets tick."

The Bitcoin Atom (BCA) fork is coming up quickly, at Bitcoin block #505 888, estimated to occur on January 25, 2018. At the press time, the hard fork will probably go through in the next 2-3 hours as the existing data according to Block Explorer shows it to have reached the block number 505870. Bitcoin Atom (BCA) is a SegWit-enabled Bitcoin hard fork, which is expected to address several of Bitcoin’s scalability issues. Also it will be hosting features like atomic swaps which allows users to instantly exchange tokens at minimal cost without the need of centralized exchanges or any other intermediaries. For very instant and cheap transactions, the project also aims to integrate Lightning Swaps (LS). This means that Bitcoin Atom will be seen implementing both on-chain and off-chain mechanisms to solve the dual problems of cost and speed. The leader of the team, who prefers to remain anonymous said: “Centralization is less obvious but the problem with the main transfer of value in the crypto world, is exchanges. Centralized exchanges can be hacked or disappear or shut down by the regulators, and decentralized exchanges such as Etherdelta don’t trade bitcoin and only trade ERC-20 tokens. Even at that, they can get hacked.” In addition to handling issues connected with speed and cost of transactions, Bitcoin Atom will also be using a hybrid consensus model by combining Proof of Stake (POS) and Proof of Work (POW). These two are different types of algorithms to arrive at a consensus, or agreement, to determine whether a transaction is valid or not before being added to the blockchain. Bringing of the hybrid model in work is expected to decrease network threat associated with the possibility of miners sabotagethe system, and in addition, will also increase network stability. All Bitcoin holders, who possess their private keys at the moment of the fork, will receive Bitcoin Atom at the rate of 1 BTC = 1 BCA. It’s necessary to either control Bitcoin private keys or store BTC with one of the partners in order to claim and transact Bitcoin Atom. Some of the cryptocurrency exchanges, which have extended their support to Bitcoin Atom, include OKEX, Yobit, Exrates, More TBA. Wallets supporting Bitcoin Atom include MyAtom Wallet, ESR Wallet, Bitcoin Atom, Coinomi and More TBA. The Bitcoin Atomic futures have already started trading on Yobit exchange and at the press time, is currently trading at a price of $406.50, according to CoinMarketCap. Bitcoin’s scalability issues have evolved as the major barrier to its progress and further mainstream adoption. The costs of a single Bitcoin transaction have shot to as high as $30 in past few months and hence the investor community are waiting for the solution from developers. Bitcoin’s blockchain network currently offers a throughput of 3 transactions per second. With SegWit implementation, this will double to 6 TPS. However, this is still much lower than what its rival Ethereum has to offer, which is 20 TPS at the moment. In such a way, if Bitcoin wants to remian at the forefront of this crypto mania, quite serious work needs to be done in order to finally solve scalability issue.

How does law enforcement use data to prevent fraud? Kelly Tshibaka, Chief Data Officer of the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, and Caryl Brzymialkiewicz, Assistant Inspector General & Chief Data Officer at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, speak with CXOTalk about how different agencies at the Office of Inspector General use data analytics. For more information, see https://www.cxotalk.com/episode/fraud-prevention-data-analytics-law-enforcement Since 2015, Tshibaka has served as Chief Data Officer in the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG), where data analytics has resulted in more than $920 million in financial impact or audit findings in FY16. She previously served as the Acting Inspector General of the Federal Trade Commission, worked in the Office of the Director for National Intelligence (ODNI), and served as the Special Assistant to the Department of Justice Inspector General. As the first Chief Data Officer for the OIG within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Brzymialkiewicz is focused on providing more and better access to data and analytics; accelerate analytics for use in audits, investigations, evaluations, and compliance oversight; and enhance OIG’s use of data to make more informed decisions. She previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Risk and Decision Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). She also previously served as the Operations Research Division Chief at the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, and led a team of analysts at the Center for Naval Analyses. From the transcript: Michael Krigsman: (05:01) And, Caryl, can you maybe elaborate on this, because I think it’s a very interesting point. So, you report to two separate people in order to ensure that as an inspector general, or working in the office of the inspector general, that you maintain independence. That’s very important. Could you elaborate on that point, please? Caryl Brzymialkiewicz: (05:23) Yes. Absolutely. So, for our organization, for example, health and human services is a trillion-dollar portfolio. So, our responsibility is to provide oversight for the agency. Think about centers for Medicaid, Medicare, think about the Center for Disease Control, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and many, many other agencies. But, that duel-reporting structure really allows for, as Kelly mentioned, that the independence… We want to give the information, first and foremost, to the agency to help make the agency better but we also know that there’s a lot of things that Congress is expecting us to make sure we’re using the dollars as most effectively as we can. (05:59) One thing I will say, too, that’s interesting about the law enforcement angle that you mentioned, we’re not just trying to knock on doors within the agency and figure out where people may or may not be filing the right paperwork, if you will. Really, what we’re trying to do is protect the integrity of the programs to make sure that the beneficiaries of those programs are getting what they need, and to make sure that outside entities aren’t… You know, when we think about fraud, the outside entities aren’t taking advantage of the programs as well. So, it’s not just an internal focus, it’s not supposed to be a “Gotcha!” moment. Kelly Tshibaka: (15:40) We start with the business question. What am I trying to answer? So, like, to give you an example, we wanted to find out, in the data that we have and the information we have, can we put together any trends or any ideas about how to solve this question? And interestingly, just another shout-out, like Caryl was saying for agents, we can't do our data analytics job without a business understanding of what's going on. So, we have to partner closely with the agents and want the auditors to understand how data are collected, what it's used for, how they understand it. Because, once we understand a little bit more than their business and what they're trying to do, then we can work with the data. Our teams can work with the data in order to figure out how to best use the data and look through it in order to answer those business questions so we get business understanding from our auditors and our agents and oftentimes, even from the people in the agencies that we oversee. (17:08) So, to answer your question specifically, Michael, we pull it from the agency, but we also pull it from other agencies if we need it. We’ll pull it from private companies if we need it, and if we can get it. You’ll be surprised what’s even just publicly available on the internet that we can pull and if we can get it into a usable format, then it makes it a lot easier for us to work with it and come up with insights that people can take action on.

Enabling Fine-grained Multi-keyword Search Supporting Classified Sub-dictionaries over Encrypted Cloud Data To get this project in ONLINE or through TRAINING Sessions, Contact:JP INFOTECH, Old No.31, New No.86, 1st Floor, 1st Avenue, Ashok Pillar, Chennai -83. Landmark: Next to Kotak Mahendra Bank. Pondicherry Office: JP INFOTECH, #45, Kamaraj Salai, Thattanchavady, Puducherry -9. Landmark: Next to VVP Nagar Arch. Mobile: (0) 9952649690 , Email: [email protected], web: www.jpinfotech.org Blog: www.jpinfotech.blogspot.com Using cloud computing, individuals can store their data on remote servers and allow data access to public users through the cloud servers. As the outsourced data are likely to contain sensitive privacy information, they are typically encrypted before uploaded to the cloud. This, however, significantly limits the usability of outsourced data due to the difficulty of searching over the encrypted data. In this paper, we address this issue by developing the fine-grained multi-keyword search schemes over encrypted cloud data. Our original contributions are three-fold. First, we introduce the relevance scores and preference factors upon keywords which enable the precise keyword search and personalized user experience. Second, we develop a practical and very efficient multi-keyword search scheme. The proposed scheme can support complicated logic search the mixed “AND”, “OR” and “NO” operations of keywords. Third, we further employ the classified sub-dictionaries technique to achieve better efficiency on index building, trapdoor generating and query. Lastly, we analyze the security of the proposed schemes in terms of confidentiality of documents, privacy protection of index and trapdoor, and unlinkability of trapdoor. Through extensive experiments using the real-world dataset, we validate the performance of the proposed schemes. Both the security analysis and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed schemes can achieve the same security level comparing to the existing ones and better performance in terms of functionality, query complexity and efficiency.

#nuevoordenmundial #americahoy #emigrants #otomanos #imperiootomano

Bitcoin hard fork explained! Here’s what you need to know about the Ethereum hard fork, hard fork Bitcoin, & the SegWit2x hard fork. Disclaimer: This is not financial advice. I absolve myself of all responsibility (directly or indirectly) for any damage, loss caused, alleged to be caused by, or in connection with the use of or reliance on any content, goods or services mentioned in this article. As usual, DYOR. A blockchain is a list of digital transactions, information, or data that are grouped together in “blocks” then added to a row of past blocks to form a “chain.” A fork is a divergence in a blockchain’s path, or in other words, when a blockchain splits into two different paths moving forward. A blockchain that forks implies that it’s a permanent divergence into the two different chains, & miners can choose which chain they wanna direct their computing power towards. Forks happen when a group of miners choose to follow a new set of rules & protocol that differ from the already-existing set of rules. Bitcoin Cash, for example, was a hard fork of Bitcoin because it increased block sizes to eight megabytes per block; Bitcoin remains at 1 megabyte per block. There are two types of forks: hard forks & soft forks. A soft fork is when a change in the software protocol has been made in which previously valid blocks are made invalid. It’s considered “backwards-compatible,” since old nodes (or computers mining within the Bitcoin network) are able to consider new transactions to be valid. Soft forks require a majority of miners to upgrade their software in order to enforce the new rules, whereas hard forks require every single miner to upgrade their software. This is how pay to script hash functionality (or P2SH) was made valid on the Bitcoin blockchain. An example of this is the DAO hard fork, which gave birth to Ethereum & Ethereum Classic. The DAO (or decentralized autonomous organization) was a digital group whose infrastructure was built on the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum Classic was created, which was built on the principle that the blockchain cannot & should not be changed. Ethereum Classic continues to run on this original unforked path, & Ethereum as we know it today is using the newer, upgraded rules in their protocol. One of the most well-known hard forks occurred on the Bitcoin blockchain on August 1st, 2017 when Bitcoin Cash was created. For every Bitcoin you held, you were given an equal amount of Bitcoin Cash at the time of the fork. The fork occurred due to what’s known as the Bitcoin scalability problem, meaning the maximum number of transactions the Bitcoin network was able to process was extremely limited. As a result, the Bitcoin Cash hard fork took place, which increased block sizes from one megabyte to eight megabytes in order to increase the number of transactions the Bitcoin Cash ledger can process. Block 478558 was the last common block between Bitcoin & Bitcoin Cash. Just over 3 weeks after the Bitcoin Cash hard fork, a soft fork on the Bitcoin blockchain occurred on August 24th, 2017 that activated SegWit (short for Segregated Witness). This event increased the block size limit on the Bitcoin blockchain by removing certain parts of a transaction’s information; thus, freeing up more space on each block & allowing more transactions to occur on every block. One such important, upcoming hard fork on the Ethereum blockchain is EtherZero. Like mining, masternodes get paid from block rewards in the form of the respective coin at higher-than-normal yields. These block rewards come from the transaction fees people pay when sending their coins to another wallet. The difference between Ethereum & EtherZero is that EtherZero plans on implementing this masternode system in order to improve & stabilize its own market value. The team--comprised primarily of Dapp developers (or decentralized application developers)--hopes that masternodes will be of more benefit to cash users. They’re setting the initial masternode collateral point at 10,000 EtherZero. 45% of the block rewards will go to the masternodes, 45% to miners, & 10% to self-governing communities responsible for proposing changes that’ll improve the coin’s operations & functionality.
