State Police Interrupt a Gold Mining Operation in Oregon!
Our mining claim neighbors called the Cops! People living on the other side of the river where our mining claim is and not liking our mining, called the cops. It appears our neighbors just did not want their liberal utopia disturbed so they call the cops to harass us. The police were very cool as I knew one of them from checking our permits on another river couple months earlier and an Oregon DEQ meeting he showed up at. The rude lady yells to at from other side of river "you need a permit to do that"...we had them of course. She also told cops we were disrespecful and rude to her...which was totally false. She made up her own narrative about what was happening to justify her being annoyed. Liberal tactic # 3, change the narrative or just plain lie! This is the short version of the video, filmed on the Applegate River in Oregon while we were LEGALLY GOLD MINING! In the video, it is a continuous video, shot on my GoPro camera that I was wearing on my head. The video shows me mining and moving around with no editing to show what actually goes on while mining. Then my buddy is helping me move rocks while I'm using a sub-surface dredge...then the cops show up , and I tell him is where the action starts. UPDATE Jan 1st, 2015: In response to some of the comments saying we are uneducated, rednecks and other stuff...the guys in the video are as follows. One is a millionaire CPA, another a self employed business owner, two others are also self employed and owns a body shop and the other an internet marketer and freelance videographer, and lastly one is the son of the CPA guy and currently in college. Oregon Mining Law: Next time this happens, I will ask the State Police to cite the offending people who disrupt our mining operation based on this Oregon Mining Law: "ORS 517.133 Interfering with a mining operation. (1) As used in this section, "lawful mining operation" means any small scale mining operation that is in full compliance with state and federal laws. (2) A person commits the crime of interfering with a mining operation if the person intentionally: (a) Interferes with a lawful mining operation; or (b) Stops, or causes to be stopped, a lawful mining operation. (3) Interfering with a mining operation is a Class C misdemeanor. [1999 c.354 §6]" Here is the GoPro camera I was using: http://amzn.to/19yYus6

Claim Hunters - The Brooklyn Mine
In the inaugural episode of Claim Hunters, Corey and Jess lead their crew on a journey to the Old Dale mining district of Southern California in search of a mine for their customers Chris and Paul. The roads are rough, and the condition of the buildings on the Brooklyn claim isn't great. However, with a little work, and a few tense moments, the mine is explored and the buildings are restored to a reasonable condition. With Chris and Paul in tow, Corey and Jess present the Brooklyn mine, and ultimately seal the deal after a few beers and some negotiating.

National Bureau of Mines: http://www.nationalbureauofmines.org/ The Rockfield is a monster, three adits that drive into the mountain with likely over 1800’ of workings. The gold is very rich in this area and was reported as high as 18 ounces per ton commercially. The Rockfield was last worked in the early 80's and a small section of the tailings were run through a crusher and trommel (still on site). There is gold in the mine, and in the stream below it. High value all around.

Visiting The Abandoned North Star Mine And Mill
The earliest records I could find of this mine are in a California Mining Journal from 1929, however, the article references earlier work being done on the site. So, I am unsure as to when this site was first worked, but the stamp mill dates from the 1930s. In two separate articles in the California Mining Journal the mine is described as being owned by “Portland, Oregon interests” and had a crosscut tunnel extending 600 feet to a four-inch vein. Along the vein was a 100-foot drift and a raise of 150 feet to the surface. The mill was explained as a 1,250-pound stamp mill, driven by a semi-diesel engine. Ore being run through it was said to be averaging $16 to the ton.

Upper Bralorne Mine Explore
Our exploration of one of the upper portals of the Bralorne mine in Bralorne BC. The Bralorne property is centred on a gold-quartz vein system. The Bralorne mine, comprising the King, Empire (or Ida May) and Crown workings, operated continuously from 1932 to 1971. Production during this period and from older operations totals 4.9 million tonnes of ore yielding 87.6 million grams of gold and 21.9 million grams of silver, for an average recovery of 16.1 grams per tonne gold and 4.03 grams per tonne silver (MINFILE 092JNE001). The property is a consolidation of 133 Crown-granted claims and fractions, many of which were staked in 1897. The staking began after the discovery of gold-bearing quartz veins on the north bank of the lower course of Cadwallader Creek (Cairnes, 1937). Access to the area at that time was 110 kilometres by difficult trail from the railway. The original lode claims were explored individually or in small groups (the Lorne and Pioneer groups of claims were staked in 1897) and by 1898 almost all the veins that would be mined had been found. Gold was first recovered by hand crushing and panning the oxidized quartz from surface exposures. Adits were developed on the promising leads and gold was won in quantity from the ore by improvising primative mills. At Lorne two 12-foot arrastres were erected driven by a 28-foot overshot water wheel to process in a few tons of ore per day and in 1900 a 5-stamp mill was set up to increase production. On selling the Pioneer property, Arthur Noel purchased the Lorne mine from William Sloan and Dan Hurley. Prior to this the Lorne, King and Woodchuck veins had been successfully worked by Mike Gaynor, Nat Coghlan, William Young, John Williams and E.J. Taylor. In 1910 Lorne Amalgamated Mines Company gained control of the King mine and the adjacent key ground that included the Lorne, Golden King, Woodchuck, Wood Duck, Telephone and Marquis Crown-granted claims. After some shallow surface workings were completed the No.3 adit-crosscut was driven 335 metres to intersect the King vein. Work on the property was facilitated in 1915 when the Pacific Great Eastern Railway reached Lillooet on the Fraser River. Supplies from the coast were then routed 90 kilometres westward by road following the Bridge River. By 1920 some 900 metres of underground drifts and crosscuts had been developed and about 150 kilograms of gold produced, however, increasing sulphide and arsenic content in the veins at depth made gold recovery by amalgamation too low to pay in so remote an area. In 1928 Lorne Gold Mines Limited (Stobie, Furlong and Company) was incorporated and acquired the Alhambra and Blackbird claims, the Empire mine on the Ida May claim and the Coronation mine workings to the southeast. Proceeds from the sale of stock were spent driving a 900-metre adit tunnel 800 feet (245 metres) below the surface showings and by 1929 the principal veins in the King mine were delineated but in 1930 underground development was suspended because of financial difficulties. A new mining era began in 1931 when Lorne sold 60% interest to Austin Taylor and Associates who then organized Bralorne Mines Limited and took control of the property. A 100-ton mill was installed employing blanket concentration and floatation, thus commencing a 40-year period of continuous production (Photo 1). In 1935 milling capacity was increased to 475 tons daily.

Exploring The Abandoned Oro Fino Mine
The first records on the Oro Fino Quartz (also known as the Hewitt Brothers Mine) date back to 1856 and are in relation to a mining claim at Hopkins Creek which would eventually grow into the Oro Fino Quartz. Following discoveries made between 1907-10, the Hewitt brothers pushed in a tunnel of 550 feet into the mountain along with an air shaft of 103 feet and a raise of 100 feet to the surface. Uniquely, the site also featured a 5-stamp mill along Hopkins Creek and a tramway that was 1,200 feet long. The tramway served to ferry ore mined above down to the stamp mill far below. According to a “For Sale” description dating to 1936, the Oro Fino Quartz claim included the following: “18 claims, two developed by tunnel, a 5-stamp quartz mill, two Johnson concentrators, water and steam power, a good house, a good road to the property, 1,000 feet of 16-pound rail, 1,000 feet of 12-pound rail and two cars.” In 1980, in a monumental undertaking, the 14-ton stamp mill was transported to the La Porte Museum where it remains today.

Found! Secret Gold Mine and Mining Camp Hidden in the Mountains
We recently stumbled upon this secret, hidden, abandoned mine and mining camp high up in the mountains. We explored one mine tunnel as well as the surface structures. A shed onsite contained an old vintage Silvertone radio/record player from 1940, a winch, a newspaper from 1957, and other artifacts. Inside the mine, we found more artifacts used by the miners, and we demonstrate in the video how those artifacts were used by the miners long ago.

Homemade train / rail cart riding on abandoned railway tracks
Last summer, I built this wooden rail kart from scratch. It's powered by a 8HP briggs and stratton engine. The power is transmitted to the wheels by a selfmade 'transmission' with parts from a lawn tractor. It can go up to 50km/h (31mph), the speed is not limited by the engine's power but by the weakness of the wooden base. (it starts to vibrate quite alot around 50 km/h). The 20km long railway has been abandoned for more than 10 years and is quite steep for a railroad. The maximum steepness is 20mm/m (2%) but it is often close to 10mm/m (1.5%) Fun fact: The last train that drove on this railroad never got to the train station, as the modern passenger train got stuck on the 20mm/m part of the tracks because of the wheels losing grip! Exploring One Of The Biggest Abandoned Mines In Nevada: Part 3
After following the drift we ended the last video with to its surprising conclusion, we started moving back toward the main hub of this enormous abandoned mine. Along the way, we explored many of the side passages and raises that were bypassed on the route in through the main haulage adit located in this part of the mine. Following the very long hike up and out of the mine, we set up our camp for the night (we spent all day underground in this mine) and then headed above the mine to see some of its more interesting features above ground. You’ll see that we explore some of the mine buildings, including one that has an amazing collection inside of it. Although I was curious about what was inside of the modern mine buildings we discovered, I also had a specific destination in mind. One of my exploring buddies – Adit Addicts – had spotted what appeared to be a steam shovel abandoned above the modern mine we explored in this video. I wanted to see this machine to confirm what it was and also to film it if it really did turn out to be a steam shovel. As with the mine itself, it was quite a hike up into the hills above it. Fortunately, I was able to find the machine (although the GPS took me on a terrible route to do so) and it was indeed a steam shovel. Sort of... It was a steam shovel at one time, but had actually been converted over to run on an internal combustion motor. I had never seen anything like that before and it was pretty amazing to see one out in the desert mountains still next to the pile of dirt it had been excavating decades ago. The modern abandoned mine featured in this video is definitely not the first mine in this area and when looking around above the mine, it was fairly common to see old collapsed adits and old surface mining work. Many of these seemed to be more exploratory in nature though. This area has historically been a large producer of ores containing lead, copper and silver and a thriving town was once supported by the mines. However, today, there is almost no trace left of the ghost town or an aerial tramway that also used to be here. ***** All of these videos are uploaded in HD, so adjust those settings to ramp up the quality! It really does make a difference… You can click here for the full playlist of abandoned mines: https://goo.gl/TEKq9L If you like these videos on exploring abandoned mines, please subscribe! https://goo.gl/yjPxH1 Thanks for watching! ***** Growing up in California’s “Gold Rush Country” made it easy to take all of the history around us for granted. However, abandoned mine sites have a lot working against them – nature, vandals, scrappers and various government agencies… The old prospectors and miners that used to roam our lonely mountains and toil away deep underground are disappearing quickly as well. These losses finally caught our attention and we felt compelled to make an effort to document as many of the ghost towns and abandoned mines that we could before that niche of our history is gone forever. But, guess what? We have fun doing it! This is exploring history firsthand – bushwhacking down steep canyons and over rough mountains, figuring out the techniques the miners used and the equipment they worked with, seeing the innovations they came up with, discovering lost mines that no one has been in for a hundred years, wandering through ghost towns where the only sound is the wind... These journeys allow a feeling of connection to a time when the world was a very different place. And I’d love to think that in some small way we are paying tribute to those hardy miners that worked these mines before we were even born. So, yes, in short, we are adit addicts… I hope you’ll join us on these adventures! #ExploringAbandonedMines #MineExploring #AbandonedMines #UndergroundMineExploring

Would process approx. 1.5 CY per hour. 100 years later, it is still a very useful machine.

Descending the War Eagle Mine's Inclined Shaft and Exploring Its Five Levels
One of the main features of the War Eagle Mine is the 600-foot interior inclined shaft that descends to five lower levels. I first descended this inclined shaft five years ago during my initial visit to the War Eagle Mine and had never descended it again during subsequent visits. However, that all changed recently. One late night not too long ago, I found myself driving across desolate Death Valley under a waning crescent moon and suddenly decided to stop and re-visit this gigantic, sprawling mine. My intent was to ONLY explore the inclined shaft for this video. I spent four hours underground exploring all five levels off of the inclined shaft for this video and found ore carts, huge stopes, classic timbering, and a few relics scattered here and there.

Forgotten warehouse full of cars must go! | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 21
Searching through New Hampshire, Tom Cotter digs up everything from off-beat Volkswagens to a fabulous warehouse of odds and ends that spans the classic spectrum.
