016. Process Mining Data Science in Action - Wil van der Aalst

01:09:41

Coursera Course "Process Mining: Data science in Action"

03:42
To register visit https://www.coursera.org/course/procmin About the Course Data science is the profession of the future, because organizations that are unable to use (big) data in a smart way will not survive. It is not sufficient to focus on data storage and data analysis. The data scientist also needs to relate data to process analysis. Process mining bridges the gap between traditional model-based process analysis (e.g., simulation and other business process management techniques) and data-centric analysis techniques such as machine learning and data mining. Process mining seeks the confrontation between event data (i.e., observed behavior) and process models (hand-made or discovered automatically). This technology has become available only recently, but it can be applied to any type of operational processes (organizations and systems). Example applications include: analyzing treatment processes in hospitals, improving customer service processes in a multinational, understanding the browsing behavior of customers using a booking site, analyzing failures of a baggage handling system, and improving the user interface of an X-ray machine. All of these applications have in common that dynamic behavior needs to be related to process models. Hence, we refer to this as "data science in action". The course explains the key analysis techniques in process mining. Participants will learn various process discovery algorithms. These can be used to automatically learn process models from raw event data. Various other process analysis techniques that use event data will be presented. Moreover, the course will provide easy-to-use software, real-life data sets, and practical skills to directly apply the theory in a variety of application domains. Course Syllabus This course starts with an overview of approaches and technologies that use event data to support decision making and business process (re)design. Then the course focuses on process mining as a bridge between data mining and business process modeling. The course is at an introductory level with various practical assignments. The course covers the three main types of process mining. The first type of process mining is discovery. A discovery technique takes an event log and produces a process model without using any a-priori information. An example is the Alpha-algorithm that takes an event log and produces a process model (a Petri net) explaining the behavior recorded in the log. The second type of process mining is conformance. Here, an existing process model is compared with an event log of the same process. Conformance checking can be used to check if reality, as recorded in the log, conforms to the model and vice versa. The third type of process mining is enhancement. Here, the idea is to extend or improve an existing process model using information about the actual process recorded in some event log. Whereas conformance checking measures the alignment between model and reality, this third type of process mining aims at changing or extending the a-priori model. An example is the extension of a process model with performance information, e.g., showing bottlenecks. Process mining techniques can be used in an offline, but also online setting. The latter is known as operational support. An example is the detection of non-conformance at the moment the deviation actually takes place. Another example is time prediction for running cases, i.e., given a partially executed case the remaining processing time is estimated based on historic information of similar cases. Process mining provides not only a bridge between data mining and business process management; it also helps to address the classical divide between "business" and "IT". Evidence-based business process management based on process mining helps to create a common ground for business process improvement and information systems development. The course uses many examples using real-life event logs to illustrate the concepts and algorithms. After taking this course, one is able to run process mining projects and have a good understanding of the Business Process Intelligence field. Online chinese restaurant process (KDD 2014 Presentation)

15:47
Online chinese restaurant process KDD 2014 Presentation Chien-Liang Liu Tsung-Hsun Tsai Chia-Hoang Lee Processing large volumes of streaming data in near-real-time is becoming increasingly important as the Internet, sensor networks and network traffic grow. Online machine learning is a typical means of dealing with streaming data, since it allows the classification model to learn one instance of data at a time. Although many online learning methods have been developed since the development of the Perceptron algorithm, existing online methods assume that the number of classes is available in advance of classification process. However, this assumption is unrealistic for large scale or streaming data sets. This work proposes an online Chinese restaurant process (CRP) algorithm, which is an online and nonparametric algorithm, to tackle this problem. This work proposes a relaxing function as part of the prior and updates the parameters with the likelihood function in terms of the consistency between the true label information and predicted result. This work presents two Gibbs sampling algorithms to perform posterior inference. In the experiments, the online CRP is applied to three massive data sets, and compared with several online learning and batch learning algorithms. One of the data sets is obtained from Wikipedia, which comprises approximately two million documents. The experimental results reveal that the proposed online CRP performs well and efficiently on massive data sets. Finally, this work proposes two methods to update the hyperparameter $\alpha$ of the online CRP. The first method is based on the posterior distribution of $\alpha$, and the second exploits the property of online learning, namely adapting to change, to adjust $\alpha$ dynamically.

«Mine Your Own Business» — Using Process Mining to Turn Big Data into Real Value

49:51
http://0x1.tv/20131025-2A «Mine Your Own Business» — Using Process Mining to Turn Big Data into Real Value (Wil van der Aalst, SECR-2013) * Wil van der Aalst ------------- Recently, process mining emerged as a new scientific discipline on the interface between process models and event data. Conventional Business Process Management (BPM) and Workflow Management (WfM) approaches and tools are mostly model-driven with little consideration for event data. Data Mining (DM), Business Intelligence (BI), and Machine Learning (ML) focus on data without considering end-to-end process models. Process mining aims to bridge the gap between BPM and WfM on the one hand and DM, BI, and ML on the other hand. The challenge is to turn torrents of event data (“Big Data”) into valuable insights related to … xciting field that will become more and more important for the Information Systems (IS) discipline.

How To... Perform Simple Linear Regression by Hand

10:55
Learn how to make predictions using Simple Linear Regression. To do this you need to use the Linear Regression Function (y = a + bx) where "y" is the dependent variable, "a" is the y intercept, "b" is the slope of the regression line, and "x" is the independent variable. This video also shows you how to determine the slope (b) of the regression line, and the y intercept (a). In order to determine the slope of a line you will need to first determine the Pearson Correlation Coefficient - this is described in a separate video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SCg8Kuh0tE).

Decision Tree 5: overfitting and pruning

07:32
Full lecture: http://bit.ly/D-Tree A decision tree can always classify the training data perfectly (unless there are duplicate examples with different class labels). In the process of doing this, the tree might over-fit to the peculiarities of the training data, and will not do well on the future data (test set). We avoid overfitting by pruning the decision tree.

Infinex Coin Review - PoW Mining & MasterNodes - CLI Mining Setup

25:52
Here is a review on a new projected called Infinex that is currently developing a decentralized exchange. The coin uses PoW mining and MasterNodes to secure the network and provide processing power for the application layer of the network. Future goals include a streaming service, gamer network, and social networking platform. *Please note the math I did for the daily profits at was not 100% accurate. Because the total number of mine-able coins for PoW are 5, the total payout for my GTX 1080 with 2100 KH/s is approximately $1.30/day. Sorry for the mixup. I based my original estimate for daily profits on the total block reward of 11 coins. 📘Table of Contents: ◆ 00:08 Intro ◆ 00:53 Infinex Coin Review ◆ 13:07 Wallet Download ◆ 13:36 nVidia CLI Mining Setup ◆ 19:21 AMD CLI Mining Setup ◆ 24:56 Final Thoughts ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● 🤑Tips/Donations Graciously Accepted: ◆IFX: iCzej7jwMDuCzyLZKcpXjQXQubyoxoU8u9 ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● ⭐Links: 💻Infinex Website: https://www.infinex.info/ ⛏Infinex Official Pool: https://pool.infinex.info/ 💻ccminer for nVidia: https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer/releases 💻sgminer for AMD: https://github.com/djm34/sgminer-msvc2015/releases 💻7-Zip: https://www.7-zip.org/ 💻Masternodes Online: https://masternodes.online/currencies/IFX/ ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● 🤑Support me on Patreon: https://goo.gl/wmY9D2 👇A special thanks to my Patreons: ◆Robert Savilonis (since Feb. 2018) ◆Jon Biggs (since Feb. 2018) ◆Milko Medero (since Mar. 2018) ◆Carl Birchenough (since Mar. 2018) ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Social: ◆ Discord: https://goo.gl/v2wRbF ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● ⭐Links: ⛏MiningPoolHub: https://goo.gl/PbTw6J 💻Awesome Miner: https://goo.gl/4u1WVc 📺Mining Tutorial: https://goo.gl/4Zgb4d 💰CoinBase: https://goo.gl/wB6Z7h 📈CoinTracker.info: https://goo.gl/xHWVei ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● 🤑Tips/Donations Graciously Accepted: ◆BTC: 1JhgmwdQ4SLjPVbvKKHg2NyRrQUmFkZMwz ◆BTCP: b1NDj9GifnJwAD4DfSHZmjLvakTYmBcGC1h ◆ETH: 0x1B06d92E01b33E20461a7eD379641877bb53AB20 ◆ETN: etnk1VBUHGA4RHxUPmc3Q43UaaoRvfero6USYBiZejkDSsvx42nBmtZAoKnux3WN7pd38qHsxVse6XQLRa4YfnmdA75CY1SB72 ◆LTC: LdtBYEPS3xzV1iMNaeeQ6maTGX3KcxrTaR ◆LUX: LV4eCbd8f4j1y6VxHd9VPMs82mu6Zam8XG ◆RVN: RWFU9V8X8yuVpNCACwqzDSuV3opc97dTgc ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● 🎧Music from audioblocks.com: http://audioblocks.refr.cc/ZFW24KF ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● 👍Please like this video if you find it helpful; leave comments below to tell me what you think. Blind Source Separation ICA With Python 2: FastICA with Scikit-Learn

09:11
In this tutorial I cover the fastICA algorithm of Scikit-Learn, and how we can use it in the blind source separation of random generated data. Blind Signal Separation--, also known as blind source separation, is the separation of a set of source signals from a set of mixed signals, without the aid of information (or with very little information) about the source signals or the mixing process. This problem is in general highly underdetermined, but useful solutions can be derived under a surprising variety of conditions. Much of the early literature in this field focuses on the separation of temporal signals such as audio. However, blind signal separation is now routinely performed on multidimensional data, such as images and tensors, which may involve no time dimension whatsoever. The Shogun Machine learning toolbox provides a wide range of unified and efficient Machine Learning (ML) methods. The toolbox seamlessly allows to easily combine multiple data representations, algorithm classes, and general purpose tools. This enables both rapid prototyping of data pipelines and extensibility in terms of new algorithms. We combine modern software architecture in C++ with both efficient low-level computing backends and cutting edge algorithm implementations to solve large-scale Machine Learning problems (yet) on single machines. One of Shogun's most exciting features is that you can use the toolbox through a unified interface from C++, Python, Octave, R, Java, Lua, C#, etc. This not just means that we are independent of trends in computing languages, but it also lets you use Shogun as a vehicle to expose your algorithm to multiple communities. We use SWIG to enable bidirectional communication between C++ and target languages. Shogun runs under Linux/Unix, MacOS, Windows. Scikit-Learn Machine Learning in Python with simple and efficient tools for data mining and data analysis. Accessible to everybody, and reusable in various contexts. Built on NumPy, SciPy, and matplotlib. It has an Open source, commercially usable - BSD license scikit-learn Machine Learning in Python Simple and efficient tools for data mining and data analysis Accessible to everybody, and reusable in various contexts Built on NumPy, SciPy, and matplotlib Open source, commercially usable - BSD license

Big Data Opportunity: Structured vs. Unstructured Data

12:33
http://www.patrickschwerdtfeger.com/sbi/ Where's the opportunity in Big Data? Is it with structured data or unstructured data? Experts estimate that over 95% of the data in the world today is unstructured and only 5% is structured, so there's definitely a lot MORE unstructured data to be mined. The case histories so far suggest that the biggest opportunities lie in the messy unstructured data; the data the INCLUDES the outliers rather than marginalize them. The outliers add the most interesting insights to the process and allow the algorithms to calculate probabilities using the entire sample size, rather than relying on sampling inferences based on a small subset of the population. So research your unstructured data. Look at all those machine logs and metadata and see what insights you might be able to glean. Those are the building blocks for predictive analytics and algorithms that value.

Mining Bitcoin with pencil and paper

07:52
Bitcoins are mined using a cryptographic algorithm called SHA-256. This algorithm is simple enough to be done with pencil and paper, as I show in this video. Not surprisingly, this is a thoroughly impractical way to mine. One round of the algorithm takes 16 minutes, 45 seconds which works out to a hash rate of 0.67 hashes per day. For details, see http://righto.com/sha
