CppCon 2017: Juan Arrieta “Traveling the Solar System with C++: Programming Rocket Science”

54:20
Presentation Slides, PDFs, Source Code and other presenter materials are available at: https://github.com/CppCon/CppCon2017 — Spacecraft travel our solar system with exquisite accuracy. It is almost commonplace to learn that a spacecraft hit bullseye to within a few seconds after over a decade of space travel. How do we do that? What does it entail to design and operate the trajectory of a spacecraft? Newton, Kepler, Einstein, Tsiolkovsky, Battin and many others gave us beautiful mathematical models of the universe. Beautiful, yes, but also perversely complex. Without hope for analytical solutions, we must rely on numerical methods. Initially, numerical methods were executed by hand (people known as "The Computers"). Eventually we adopted electronic computers, and entered a multi-decade period of Fortran domination. Over the last decade, we have been experiencing increased adoption of C++. Organizations feel attracted to C++'s uncompromising performance, and its ability to abstract away the overwhelming complexity of spacecraft trajectory calculations. But it has not been an easy move! For example: luminaries of the field are stuck in Fortran, and current Engineering schools seldom offer any C++ education. As advanced scientific concepts require increasingly complex spacecraft trajectories, we see a bright future for C++ in this field. But we must be proactive in attracting, accommodating, and educating the current generation of engineers and scientists. — Juan Arrieta: Nabla Zero Labs, CEO Juan holds a BSc (2002) in chemical engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City, Mexico) and a PhD (2007) from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, USA), where his work focused on numerical optimization applied to spacecraft trajectory design. Upon concluding his PhD, Juan joined McKinsey & Company as an associate management consultant, where he served clients in various industries, including automotive, oil and gas, banking, and local government. In 2009, Juan left McKinsey to pursue his life-long dream of working for NASA, and joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. From 2009 through 2012 Juan served JPL as a Navigation Engineer with the Flight Path Control Group, where his responsibilities included the design, analysis, and optimization of orbit trim maneuvers for the Cassini Spacecraft. In 2012 he transitioned roles and became a Mission Design Engineer with the Outer Planet Mission Analysis Group, where his responsibilities included the design of trajectories for NASA’s upcoming mission to Europa. In 2016 Juan left JPL and founded Nabla Zero Labs: An independent research, development, and engineering services firm. — Videos Filmed & Edited by Bash Films: http://www.BashFilms.com

130 - Kinetic Theory and Temperature In this video Paul Andersen explains how the macroscopic measure of temperature can be related to the average kinetic energy of molecules in motion. The Boltzmann constant and distribution can be used to calculate the root mean square velocity for the sample. Do you speak another language? I created this video with the YouTube Slideshow Creator (http://www.youtube.com/upload) Intro/Bio Hello my name is Terrence Terrill Becton. I am 37 years old and a correctional officer. I was born and raised and currently reside in the state of North Carolina. I attended North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina, but did not complete my degree in music education with my minor in business education. I went on from there to work jobs back and forth from building computers to driving trucks for more than three years. I also know real estate and have my real estate license. For hobbies I love to travel. I have one biological son and four other children that I love for life. I just got married on April 10, 2012 and we have been together for five loving years. I was recently in a bad motorcycle accident and have almost fully recovered with little injury. I am doing well and want be more business oriented and have more knowledge in running and opening businesses of my own. In like online schooling and the aspect of e-learning and the only experience with it is through that aspect. Well now I am attending Ashford University. I majored in business administration and plan on expanding my knowledge of the information I need to complete my goals for the future. Now I am getting my masters in organizational management with a specialization in healthcare administration. Well if you would like to know more about me or have any questions just reply or email me, thanks. My political philosophy is a little complex. Politically I am a Democrat. In many aspects I would be considered a Conservative. But ideally my thought and religion leads me in and through a lot of decisions and choices made. As far as the problems in America I think the major issue is the economy and the unemployment issues. If they were a lot better like in past years it would really make things a lot better and less troublesome. My degree and course of study I recently did and action was a Masters in Organizational Management with a specialization in healthcare administration. Now I am doing the Teaching and Technology and Online Education Master’s degree and Specialization. This course will teach the concepts and strategies of functional management. In this class I would like to learn more on the ethics and business concepts. When doing my citations and references I use the school library along with regular internet search engines for research. The instructors can assist through constant communication and clearness in the work to be done. My goal is a change in career and I have limited experience in instructional design. As far as my K-12, I have no teaching experience but in my past student life my elementary math teacher Ms. Rice really was strict but was heavily dedicated in her work and students learning and what stuck with me was her drive and the way she pushed me. I am a MATLT degree and I would like to work in online education and hopefully at Ashford. The aspects of action research is to be started to solve an immediate problem or issue or a reflective approach towards the progression to solve an issue. Traditional research is more slowed back or overtime research that leads to a solution. This is a supporting quote that, “there has been tremendous excitement over the many ONLINE and mobile research METHODS that have emerged in the last 5-10 years. This excitement, however, hasn’t obsoleted the traditional research methods, such as face-to-face focus groups (N. A. 2016 pg. 1).” References N.A., (2016 pg. 1). How to Fix Checksum Error in WinRar Extraction Get the winrar checksum error repair software here - https://goo.gl/0zCnLw Three ways how you can fix WinRAR checksum error:- Procedure 1: Re-download the WinRAR file from the internet. Re-downloading usually fixes the checksum error because interruptions while downloading the WinRAR file might have introduced the checksum error in your WinRAR file. If re-downloading still never fixed the checksum error, then try the second method explained below. Procedure 2: Open WinRAR application. - Right click on the corrupt / damaged WinRAR file and choose “Extract files” options - Tick on “Keep Broken Files” check box under Miscellaneous tab - Choose the folder where you want to save the extracted files and click “Ok” button **And while the extraction process if any CRC error pops up. Simply click “Close”** If you still cannot repair checksum error in your RAR file, then there's only one way to fix it- download the WinRAR checksum error repair software by visiting this link - https://goo.gl/0zCnLw The above available WinRAR checksum error repair software can repair and extract the files in your WinRAR file. Morse code

38:52
Morse code is a method of transmitting text information as a series of on-off tones, lights, or clicks that can be directly understood by a skilled listener or observer without special equipment. The International Morse Code encodes the ISO basic Latin alphabet, some extra Latin letters, the Arabic numerals and a small set of punctuation and procedural signals as standardized sequences of short and long signals called "dots" and "dashes", or "dits" and "dahs". Because many non-English natural languages use more than the 26 Roman letters, extensions to the Morse alphabet exist for those languages. Each character (letter or numeral) is represented by a unique sequence of dots and dashes. The duration of a dash is three times the duration of a dot. Each dot or dash is followed by a short silence, equal to the dot duration. The letters of a word are separated by a space equal to three dots (one dash), and the words are separated by a space equal to seven dots. The dot duration is the basic unit of time measurement in code transmission. For efficiency, the length of each character in Morse is approximately inversely proportional to its frequency of occurrence in English. Thus, the most common letter in English, the letter "E," has the shortest code, a single dot. This video is targeted to blind users. Auburn Coach Wife Kristi Malzahn Agrees with Match & eHarmony: Men are Jerks

12:23
My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling "Bravo!" in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.) Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality. Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely. And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
